On this Memorial Day, we take a moment to reflect on the parades and ceremonies that have marked this significant occasion throughout history.

The images below capture the essence of the Memorial Day Parade from the mid-1950s in Ashley. In 1963, the Buckeye Valley High School Marching Band proudly represented their community by performing in the Radnor Parade. (Sources: The Delaware Gazette/DCHS Collection)

Flashback Friday is celebrating Mother’s Day weekend with advertisements from the past. In 1968, a popular gift was giving her a new A-line dress to wear with her new hairdo. Of course, mom had to have new hosiery to go along with that new dress, so you would head to The Style Shop to get her in style for the season.

Don’t forget to have mom take the day off and have Mr. Tom’s Country Fixin’ Restaurant to do the cooking for her so she can feast like a queen and have her dessert back in 1981!
