Can you tell the difference between these two Butterflies? Here's a hint: Make sure you DOT your I when spelling "butterfly"!
That's right! one of these butterflies has a pair of black dots near the bottom of its wings. In fact, the dots tell us that one of these butterflies is a male (the one with the dots) and one is a female (the one without).

Delaware Lake Update 9/15/2025 12:00
Lake Level- 914.77 (summer pool 915)
Outflow- 1.56 (approx. 23 cfs)
Boaters please be use extra caution, Delaware Lake is currently under our normal summer pool. From September 1-Oct 31 our water control manual mandates that we release a minimum of 20cfs for flows along the Olentangy and Scioto rivers, combined with the lack of rain, our lake has dropped a bit below 915. As the lake level drops submerged items may become hazardous to boaters, please use extra caution and always wear a life jacket!

Marvelous Monarchs! Ranger Noah Brown and USACE volunteer Jennifer had a marvelous time with visitors from SourcePoint-Thrive After 55 this morning, when they met up at Delaware Dam for the Marvelous Monarch program. Each stage of the Monarch Butterfly's life cycle was shown, from egg, to caterpillar, to crysalis, and finally to butterfly. Program attendees learned about the importance of milkweed plants, the sole diet of Monarch Caterpillars and how they depend on the plant throughout their life cycle. In addition they learned about the amazing joureny Monarch Butterflys go on in the fall when they migrate south for the winter, some flying over 3,000 miles! It was a marvelous time showing off these amazing creatures!
