Meet Lenny! At five years old, she is full of movement, curiosity, and personality.

Lenny has CHARGE syndrome and communicates using a mix of ASL, spoken language, and other supports. She is a happy, determined kid with a love for learning and an incredible memory.

She loves Bluey, Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood, and the book The Very Hungry Caterpillar’s First Signs, where she appears alongside other Deaf and hard-of-hearing children. Seeing it at Barnes & Noble was a big moment.

Lenny is learning ASL and Braille, building confidence and independence every day. Her story is a reminder that communication is about connection, and she is leading the way.

Meet Wally! She just checked a major item off her bucket list: braving the frozen waters for the Polar Plunge with the Delaware County Special Olympics.

Sports have always been a massive part of Wally’s life—from basketball and powerlifting to her absolute favorite, golf (she is even celebrating her 40th birthday at St. Andrews in Scotland!). When she isn't competing, Wally is dedicated to her supportive family and her rewarding 17-year career at All R Friends, an adult day support program.

With the help of the DCBDD, Wally has achieved huge milestones like earning her driver's license and living independently. For the past 20 years, Special Olympics has given her a close-knit community of friends, coaches, and volunteers. Watch to hear her inspiring story and see why she encourages everyone to come out, cheer, and experience the unbelievable joy of this community!

It was a great opportunity to connect with our community partners and even get some time with our friend, Otto, from the Delaware County, OHIO, Sheriff's Office!
