🔥 Emergency Response, Training, and Community Outreach 🔥

🗓️ The final few days of May were busy for the Delanson Fire Company!

📚 Starting off on Thursday 5/28, members were on hand at the Duanesburg Central School District Jr/Sr High School career day. Our members engaged with students on how Junior Membership or our new Youth Participation Program can lead to a rewarding career in public safety.

💥 While at career day, the DFC was dispatched to the cause of a wide spread power outage. Utility equipment along Alexander Road/Western Turnpike failed, causing the outage. A downed power line started a small ground cover fire that members quickly extinguished.

💨 Later in the afternoon on Thursday 5/28, the DFC was requested to Bassett Healthcare for a fire alarm activation. Members found low level CO readings in the building due to a faulty outdoor generator. The source was secured and the building ventilated.

🪢 On Saturday 5/30, 3 members participated in a skills session for the rescue technician basic course. Just after class let out, the DFC was requested mutual aid by Quaker Street Fire to the scene of a motor vehicle accident with hazmat involvement. 8 members responded from Delanson.

🚒 Finally, on Saturday evening members responded to an open burn on Cole Road.

🇺🇸 The 2026 Memorial Day Parade is tonight! 🇺🇸

🔴 Our parade steps off at 6:30 pm tonight in the Village of Delanson!

🚧 Main Street between Cole Road and East Shore/West Shore will be closing at 4:30 pm - be sure to plan your travel around this.

🚨 Members of the DFC and Schenectady Sheriff’s Office will be out providing traffic safety support.

🔥 Mutual aid structure fire in Duanesburg 🔥

☎️ Last night around 11:45 pm the Schenectady County UCC began to take calls reporting a house fire in the 5000 block of Duanesburg Road in Duanesburg Volunteer Fire Company’s primary coverage area

🕛 As the clock struck midnight, Duanesburg command requested the Delanson Fire Company to respond to the scene

🧑‍🚒 Delanson crews arrived on scene and went to work. Our members assisted with the fire suppression efforts while Engine 3522 was the dump site pumper and Tanker 3534 participated in the tanker shuttle

🚒 Our members cleared the scene around 4:30 am. On the way back to our firehouse Engine 3522 couldn’t resist a stop for breakfast at Stewart's Shops!

‼️ Delanson Fire Company responds to significant motor vehicle accident on Western Turnpike ‼️

🔊 Yesterday, April 7th, the DFC received a call for a traffic accident involving a heavy duty truck and a U-Haul vehicle on Western Turnpike in the area of McGuire School Road.

🚒 Members arrived on scene to find a significant incident involving multiple utility poles that was completely obstructing Western Turnpike in both directions. The heavy duty truck was overturned and the driver was heavily trapped inside the cab.

🧑‍🚒 Crews from the DFC, Duanesburg Fire, Quaker Street Fire, Esperance Fire, and Pine Grove Fire worked for over an hour to extricate the driver. The operation was a complex technical rescue that required numerous additional resources including a heavy duty rotator from AC's Towing & Recovery.

🚑 The driver was transported to Albany Medical Center by Duanesburg Ambulance with an Albany Med EMS Physician onboard the ambulance. 3 Physicians from Albany Med EMS responded to the scene to support the operation. Additional EMS mutual aid was provided by Lake Valley EMS and Rotterdam EMS.

🚔 The cause of the accident is under investigation by the New York State Police. The Schenectady Sheriff’s Office also provided law enforcement support on the scene.

🤝 The DFC would like to thank all our mutual aid partners and supporting agencies who were involved yesterday.

☎️ A special thank you goes out to the Schenectady County Unified Communications Center. The telecommunicators were an invaluable resource to our operation.

🏃Delanson Fire Company on the run! 💨

➡️ Today, the Delanson Fire Company team took part in the 17th annual Schenectady Firefighters Cancer Foundation Run 4 Your Life 5K.

🧑‍🚒 Our team was made up of DFC members joined by some friends from outside the company.

🥇We even brought home some hardware! Junior Member Noah Peterson took 1st place in the 17 and under divison!

🥞 Our members will be recovering from the race quick to serve the community tomorrow at our March Pancake Breakfast #2.

Another "great day to be an Elk" at the Lodge's mobile food pantry in Delanson today. Thank you to everyone who stopped by!

UPDATE 02/05/2026: Esperance Elks #2507 was able to provide groceries for 37 families within our community. Each family received a variety of fresh produce, milk, eggs, butter, cheese, as well as dry and canned goods totaling just over $50.
