Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary The unit is responsible for promoting public safety for the citizens and visitors of Florida.

The Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary is composed of a diverse group of community oriented men and women who donate their time to make the difficult task of law enforcement safer and more effective for the troopers and citizens traveling our highways. The Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary is a professionally trained, volunteer law enforcement organization dedicated to providing direct assistance and operational support to the Florida Highway Patrol.

On behalf of FHP Command and FHPA leadership, we proudly recognize Auxiliary Troopers Martin and Ledbetter of Troop F as the Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary Officers of the 1st Quarter 2026.

On February 3, 2026, while assisting with speedometer calibration operations at the Bradenton Station, Aux. Troopers Martin and Ledbetter were faced with an unexpected emergency when a patrol vehicle shifted while being raised on a jack, trapping a vendor's arm beneath it. Without hesitation, Aux. Trooper Ledbetter secured the vehicle to prevent further movement, while Aux. Trooper Martin rendered immediate assistance and coordinated additional help. Their quick response, combined with the efforts of nearby troopers, allowed the vehicle to be safely repositioned and the injured individual freed until EMS arrived.

Thanks to their calm demeanor, teamwork, and decisive actions under pressure, what could have been a far more serious incident resulted in only minor injuries.

Their professionalism and dedication to the safety of others reflect great credit upon themselves and the Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary.

Congratulations to Auxiliary Troopers Martin and Ledbetter on this well-earned recognition.

A simple moment that turned into a lasting memory.

While in Orlando for the Auxiliary Basic Recruit Academy graduation, Troop C (Tampa) Auxiliary Troopers took a few moments to connect with a family visiting from abroad who were excited to see an American patrol car up close.

What started as curiosity quickly became a memorable interaction filled with stories, smiles, stickers, sunglasses, and a little Florida Highway Patrol history.

Moments like these remind us that community engagement can leave an impact far beyond the roadway.

Today’s swearing-in ceremony marked the beginning of service for 13 new Auxiliary Troopers.

One of the most meaningful traditions is the badge pinning, where each trooper selects someone special to place the badge on their uniform, honoring the role family and loved ones who stood beside them in the journey to service.
