Had a great visit at River Springs MS with Principal Vaughan. I had the opportunity to visit several classrooms and saw phenomenal teachers and students engaged in meaningful learning.

One highlight was visiting their Ag farm, where students are gaining hands-on, real-world experiences that truly bring learning to life.

What a milestone moment for our community! 🎉

For the first time in 16 years, Volusia County Schools has earned an “A” district rating from the Florida Department of Education — and the momentum doesn’t stop there.

At our State of Our Schools address, Superintendent Dr. Carmen Balgobin shared results that reflect the tireless dedication of our students, educators, and families across all 84 schools:

✅ 95.6% graduation rate — Top 9 in the state of Florida
✅ 73.8% college and career acceleration rate
✅ 4,600+ industry certifications earned this school year
✅ 100% of schools rated A, B, or C — no D or F schools for the first time since 2008

These numbers aren’t just statistics. They represent what happens when an entire community commits to engaging students in high levels of learning every single day.

As the Chief Academic Officer, I’m incredibly proud of the teachers, school leaders, district team, students, parents, and all our partners in eduation who made this possible. This is what transformation looks like — and we’re just getting started.
