✅ 𝗣𝗮𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘀 with 𝘯𝘰 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘤 or 𝘱𝘢𝘱𝘦𝘳 𝘱𝘢𝘥𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 can go right in your 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗯𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗶𝗻.

🚫 𝗣𝗮𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘀 with 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘵𝘦 𝘴𝘱𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘺 𝘥𝘰𝘵𝘴 or 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘤 𝘣𝘶𝘣𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘸𝘳𝘢𝘱 inside are not recyclable with paper — they should be 𝗿𝗲𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 or 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗵.

➡️ 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘀 can be recycled too — just take them to the 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗯𝗮𝗴 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗶𝗻𝘀 at your local grocery store. 🛒

Can you still see the Milky Way from your backyard?

Dark skies are part of what makes the Town of Delafield and Lake Country special. But excessive outdoor lighting can make the stars harder to see while also affecting wildlife and neighboring properties.

Lake Country Clean Waters recently shared this presentation on how thoughtful outdoor lighting can help preserve our night sky without sacrificing safety.

Take a few minutes to watch — then take a look at the outdoor lighting around your own home. A few simple changes can reduce unnecessary light and help protect the night sky we all share.

Paper is the backbone of recycling. More than 50 percent of the County’s collected recyclables are paper. Follow these easy tips to Recycle Right and keep non-recyclables out of your cart:

• DO recycle dry paper and cardboard. Flatten boxes, keep paper loose, and remove excess food residue.

• DON’T put garbage in the recycling cart. Food waste and dirty items contaminate other recyclables and can be rejected, meaning that material must go to a landfill.

In July, help recycling efforts by focusing on glass. Follow these easy tips to Recycle Right and keep hazards out of your cart:
• DO recycle only glass bottles and jars; empty, rinsed, and with lids removed.
• DON’T place hazardous materials (batteries, propane cylinders, chemicals, sharps) in recycling or trash carts.

You may have seen Waukesha County Parks' "Leave No Trace" campaign, encouraging visitors to leash your dog, stay on trail, and dispose of trash properly.

Well… Waukesha County Recycles would like to encourage you to Leave No Trace, too. ♻️

✅ No trace of food in containers – empty them out.
✅ No trace of water in bottles – keep recyclables clean and dry.
✅ No trace of plastic bags in your recycling cart – recyclables should be loose.

By leaving no trace behind, you're helping ensure more materials can be recycled successfully and safely. Let's support what "Leave No Trace" means in the recycling world!
