Building Future Educators...One Skill at a Time!

Students in Mrs. Torrescano’s and Mrs. Gonzalez’s Principles of Education & Training classes are getting a head start on the skills that will help them succeed throughout the Education & Training program...and well beyond the classroom!

Through fun, hands-on activities, students are learning what professionalism looks like while putting important career-ready skills into action. From teamwork and communication to leadership, problem-solving, responsibility, and collaboration, our students are learning how these skills work together to help them become successful students, professionals, and future educators. ✏️📚

The best part? They’re learning by doing...working together, communicating, leading, and having fun along the way!

🌟 The future starts here, and our future educators are off to a great start! 🌟

Roving Chef at Dr. Lonnie Green Elementary!

Our students had a fantastic time with Roving Chef! They got a behind-the-scenes look as they toured the kitchen, learned more about how food is prepared, and then got to put their skills to the test.

The best part? Building their very own personal pizzas! From choosing their toppings to creating their own delicious combinations, our young chefs had the opportunity to get hands-on and have fun in the kitchen.

A big thank-you to SFE for giving our students such a fun, interactive, and memorable cooking experience! We loved seeing so many smiles—and maybe a few future chefs in the making!

Mrs. Staffen’s senior-level Engineering Design and Development (EDD) classes had a great visit from the United States Air Force 47th Civil Engineer Squadron last week.

Lt. Col Benjamin R. Johnson (47th CES Commander / Base Civil Engineer), 1st Lt. Ryan Pfanstiel (Environmental Engineer), Mr. Jack Carrico (Mechanical Engineer), and Mr. Zachary Engel (Mechanical Engineer) from Laughlin Air Force Base spoke with students about engineering in the Air Force, their roles at LAFB, and the many ways engineers support the mission. During their visit, students also took on a Paper Tower Challenge, putting their teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving skills to the test!

This visit is part of our “Grow Your Own” partnership between LAFB and our CTE Engineering program. They’ll be working with our students throughout the year and providing guidance as they work on their senior Capstone projects.

Thank you to LAFB for investing in our students and giving them the opportunity to learn from real engineers in our community!

Del Rio Middle School Brings Awareness to Su***de Prevention
Month
Del Rio Middle School brought awareness to Su***de Prevention Month by reminding our students and staff that everyone matters and no one has to face difficult moments alone.
On Thursday, September 17, students and staff wore purple and teal to show our support and unity. These colors represented our commitment to coming together, spreading hope, and making sure every member of our school community feels seen, valued, and supported.
We Unite. We Support. We Care. Everyone Matters.
Thank you to our DRMS students and staff for helping us shine a light on the importance of connection, kindness, and support.

On Thursday, September 24, 2026 Del Rio Middle School celebrated the Pillar of Empathy. We were honored to welcome students, staff, and their families who were nominated by a staff member for demonstrating empathy through their words, actions, and care for others. We also had the privilege of welcoming our distinguished guest, Carmen Abreu, West Texas Counseling Community Outreach and Development Officer. Mrs. Abreu congratulated all of our
throughout their lives. She shared the inspiring quote, "A candle loses nothing by lighting another," by James Keller, reminding us that showing empathy and kindness toward others does not diminish what we have; instead, it helps brighten someone else's day and can make a meaningful difference in their lives.
