Yesterday we lost an amazing man, Mike Ramirez. A man who was a husband, father, brother, son, friend to many, and a beacon of light for countless students.

Walking into the high school, the first words I would usually hear were, “Hey Pa!” Those halls in our high school will never be the same, but not because he’s gone, but because the impact he had on everyone’s life. Many only hope to accomplish what you you did in such a short time.

It’s been amazing reading all the stories reflecting on his commitment to our youth.

Rest easy, Mike. We got it from here.

Good evening our Del Rio community. I want to speak directly and honestly, the results of our bond election hit us hard. We believed in the vision we presented: new facilities, better infrastructure, a stronger future for our community. But the voters said “no,” and we must accept that outcome.

We poured hours into outreach and explaining how this bond would benefit everyone, not just a few. We made the case that large investments like this typically can’t be funded through annual budgets alone. We believed in the message and the direction we were headed.

Although this didn’t pass, we won’t give up. The needs that motivated this bond didn’t vanish with today’s vote. The challenges, aging facilities, maintenance, infrastructure gaps, all remain real. We owe it to our community to not give up.

To every volunteer, every neighbor, every person who engaged with us, I thank you. To my fellow board members, I’m proud to have stood with you through this journey. While tonight is a moment of disappointment, it’s not the end.

What a great morning supporting our SFDRCISD Education Foundation. Several months ago we talked about it, two of us were immediately in and the third…well, he pretty much tried to claw his way out 😂! A short time later, Tori gave us our team name, The Dad Bod Squad.

What a privilege it’s been to work with both you and blessed to call you friends.

I want to take a moment and acknowledge some recent and serious concerns that have been brought forward regarding our school buses, specifically the buses used to transport our amazing Ram band.

Myself and fellow board members have already addressed this with our administration and are demanding a fix immediately.

This is unacceptable and we need to be held accountable.

We will demand answers.

We will fix this.

We are better than this.
