We do have these available!
Check out a pass: Get a free pass to visit any Colorado state park
Colorado has 42 state parks that offer various year-round recreational opportunities such as hiking, fishing, birdwatching or snowshoeing. These state parks require an entrance pass.

But Colorado now offers residents a state parks pass for an additional $29 fee on their vehicle registration as part of the Keep Colorado Wild Pass program. In 2023, nearly 30% of drivers opted in for that pass.

For those who don’t have a park pass and want to see what they are missing, checking out a 7-day state parks pass from the library might be a great option.

To use the ‘Check out a pass’ program, follow these steps:
Visit your local library’s online catalog and search for “check out state parks.”
Note that libraries do not allow people to place a “hold’’ on a pass. The catalog will show if a pass is available or when it will be returned.
If available, visit your public library and ask to check out the pass. You must be a library member in good standing to do so.
Along with a pass to hang on your rearview mirror, you’ll also be able to borrow resources on wildlife, trees, wildflowers and birds that you may spot in Colorado State Parks. There is also information on park activities, Leave No Trace and a seasonal star chart.

Colorado residents can get a $29 Keep Colorado Wild Pass when registering a car, motorcycle, recreation vehicle or light truc

Portrait of Colorado at 150
Stories are a powerful way to share our past experiences and celebrate our shared history. One of the ways History Colorado is commemorating Colorado's 150th birthday, the Portrait of Colorado at 150 initiative, is a collection of oral histories that will give future generations a glimpse of what it means, and what it's meant to be, a Coloradan. The project seeks to capture at least 150 unique and diverse oral histories from across the state. History Colorado’s John W. Emery Family Associate Curator of Oral History and Associate Curator of Arts & Leisure, Kim Kennedy White, has been traveling and gathering these personal stories, as well as working with community members to collect their own. Listen to some of them right here. Bucket List Community News managed to catch up with White, and they sat down to discuss the ambitious project. Be on the lookout for Portrait of Colorado information tables at events around the state this summer, from the Boulder Creek Festival running May 22–25, to the Denver Cherry Blossom Festival, June 27–28, and Sedgwick County Fair on July 20 in Julesburg, to name just a few!

The Hostess with the Mostest
Ida Stingley Newhouse lived at the peak of Gilded-Age and Edwardian society. A Jewish woman with a modest background, she defied the odds to reach an improbable level of social prominence while, at the same time, a broad current of antisemitism swept across Europe and the US. Her story begs the question, how did a boarding house waitress from Leadville become the darling of high society on both sides of the pond, charming King Edward VII and Denver socialite Louise Sneed Hill, only to vanish from the history books? This Jewish American Heritage Month, The Colorado Magazine introduces you to the opulence of Ida’s life as the most famous hostess you’ve never heard of.
