Today we celebrate National Poppy Day. It is celebrated annually on the Friday preceding Memorial Day.

The red poppy is a globally recognized symbol of military sacrifice. In the United States, poppies are primarily worn on the Friday before Memorial Day—officially recognized as National Poppy Day—and throughout Memorial Day weekend to honor military personnel who died in the line of duty.

Poppy’s are available at VFW Post 4437 in Defuniak Springs. Please stop by and pick one up.

Lake Fest fish fry was a great success, we have some leftover catfish fillets. Tomorrow 17 May we are going to cook what’s leftover. Sunday lunch at the VFW @ 12:00. See you there.

What a real honor it is to assist such a great organization that does so much for cancer patients and their families.

This afternoon we went by the VFW Post 4437 in DeFuniak Springs to receive the proceeds from their April ride benefiting Cancer Freeze. A total of $8,750 was raised by the amazing volunteers and riders from the VFW. This year marked 8 years the VFW has been hosting a benefit ride for Cancer Freeze. A grand total of $57, 558 has been raised and donated from the VFW these past 8 yrs to help support those from Southeast Alabama & Northwest Florida battling cancer. Caleb & I can’t say thank you to everyone who has a part in making this ride successful every year. A lot of hard work goes on behind the scenes & prior to the event. We know from experience just how much personal time it takes. To have others believe in this amazing ministry called Cancer Freeze and put in the time & effort to help others, is truly humbling. God bless you all. ♥️
