It is with heavy hearts that we share some very sad news. Our long-time and devoted Deerfield Beach CERT member, Emma Sampson, has suffered the heartbreaking loss of her son, Willie James Sampson. Willie, age 49, was tragically struck and killed by a truck here in Deerfield Beach on August 2, 2025.

Emma has been such a steady and caring presence in our CERT family for many years, and now it’s our turn to surround her with love and support.

Funeral arrangements are still being made, and we will share details as soon as we have them.

Please keep Emma and her family in your thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time. A kind word, a heartfelt card, or simply holding them in your heart will mean so much.

Deerfield Beach CERT rolled up their sleeves for a hands-on refresher in bandaging techniques and setting up a medical treatment area during a Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) scenario.

Sharpening skills, building confidence, working together and there’s always room for a little teamwork and laughter along the way!

🚨 SKYWARN Spotter Training – Free Class! 🚨

Join us on Saturday, April 19, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Broward County Emergency Operations Center (201 NW 84 Ave., Plantation, FL) for a free SKYWARN® Spotter Training Class.

This National Weather Service program trains volunteers to identify and report severe weather conditions like tornadoes, hail, flooding, and high winds. Your reports can directly help the NWS issue more accurate and timely warnings, protecting lives and property in our community.

This class is perfect for:

Deerfield Beach CERT Joins Countywide MCI Drill!

This weekend, Deerfield Beach CERT participated in a countywide Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) drill hosted by Coral Springs / Parkland CERT at Sherwood Forest Park.

Teams worked together to search for victims, assess their conditions, and relay critical information via radio to ensure proper triage and transport to the medical treatment area.

Training like this strengthens our CERT teams, improves coordination, and helps us stay ready to respond when disaster strikes. Great job to everyone involved!
