Near Critical Fire Conditions this afternoon into the evening!! Avoid burning, fires can spread quickly!

Hot and dry conditions are forecast today over much of the Northland. Afternoon RH values will be in the 20-35% range. Portions of northeast Minnesota from the Brainerd Lakes to the Canadian border will see RH values of 20-25%. In those conditions fires may spread easily this afternoon and early evening.

Today & Tomorrow it’s a good idea to avoid ANY kind of burning.

DRY thunderstorms are possible this afternoon! Scattered thunderstorms will move over very dry air near the surface this afternoon, and some of these storms may produce little to no rain. Any of these storms could produce gusty and erratic winds and any lightning could easily ignite wildfires!

Very dry conditions will occur today across most of the Northland. Near critical fire weather conditions are expected along and south of the Iron Range in northern MN where the strongest winds are forecast this afternoon and evening. A few hours of Critical Fire Weather Conditions possible in the Brainerd Lakes even late afternoon to early evening today.

Last Night we participated in a training with Essentia EMS, Life Link and Deer River Police, in a scenario featuring a mock car crash, needing extrication and a landing zone. We had a great time improving and learning skills.
