So far this year is gearing up to be an epic fire season. The dry vegetation and strong winds are a bad combination and only take a little spark to make something big happen.

Please be careful on everything you do. Here are some easy reminders:

Recreate responsibly. If you don’t need a camp fire, don’t have one. If you do have a camp fire, keep it small and in a good enclosure with water and a shovel on hand.

Make sure your chains are not dragging when you tow a trailer. Adjust them if necessary.

Keep any equipment such as vehicles, chainsaws, and anything with an engine in good working order.

Don’t throw ci******es. You’d think this would be common sense yet it happens a lot.

Be safe and let’s all hope for some more moisture.

And are you wanting to serve our community in very rewarding way?

Will there ever be a time where all drivers take time to consider how their driving affects others? We hope so. We’ve had so many close calls over the years. DLFD is glad this one ended with no injuries. Hopefully the driver gets some punishment.

Today we responded to a structure fire in the area of Higgins and Claggett with flames showing on arrival. Our crews went on an aggressive attack and knocked the flames down. No one was injured. The house and garage are a total loss. Cause is under investigation.

There maybe hot spots over the next few hours. Please stay clear of the area and let our crew do their work on mop up.

After fi****ms were paid for we raised just over $11k for next years fireworks show!! Thank you so much to all our supporters!!!
“Firearms for fireworks” will be back next year.
