Scott's Law Day. December 23 of each year is designated as Scott's Law Day, to be observed throughout the State as a day to honor public safety workers and to remind motorists to slow down, change lanes away from a stationary authorized emergency vehicle, and proceed with due regard to safety and traffic conditions. (5 ILCS 490/127)

Pretty skies for training last night. Deer Creek Firefighters practiced initial attack and water supply scenarios without fire hydrants near the scene.

Excellent Training yesterday with First In Training LLC. Thanks to Goodfield FD for hosting. Central IL was well represented with firefighters from 7 local departments earning Technician certification.

We had a fun time yesterday competing in the water ball fights at Mack-A-Fest!
Several fire departments were represented and Deer Creek, took home a 3rd place trophy this year! Congrats go out to the overall 1st place winner Mackinaw Fire Department!
We had a great crowd of spectators and are looking forward to next year already!

I-74 was a halted last night with multiple vehicles involved and patients headed to the hospital. Thanks to the Tazewell County Dispatchers, Rescue Squads from Morton and Goodfield, and Paramedics from Morton, Eureka, and East Peoria, along with Illinois State Police and Joe’s Towing for all of your help.

Thanks to Roanoke Fire Department and Illinois Fire Service Institute for hosting Basic Auto Extrication training. It is an excellent course for new and ‘seasoned’ firefighters.
The evolution of cars continuously requires new tactics for breaching and extinguishing. Everyone walked away safe, tired, and learning more valuable skills.

When the call goes out you never know exactly what you are getting in to. Last night, DCFD, along with Goodfield Fire Station and Morton Paramedics Local 4952 responded to a single vehicle accident leaving the car partially submerged in a pond with an incapacitated driver. Personnel were able to safely extricate the patient from the water while OSF Life Flight executed a perfect landing on I-74 to grab the patient and go. Thanks to the Police, Tow Trucks, and to the Good Samaritans who called and who were holding down metal fencing and barbed wire so we were safe from those hazards.
