We’re proud to announce that Firefighters Tim O’Neill and Khanye Cogdell both successfully passed their Firefighter I & II Skills Exam yesterday! 🚒🔥

Congratulations, gentlemen! All of the hard work, long hours, and dedication you’ve put into getting to this point has paid off, and we couldn’t be prouder of you both!

Tim and Khanye will take their written exam next month, which is the final step in completing the process and earning their Pro Board Firefighter I & II certification.

🎓 Congratulations, Firefighters Tim O’Neill & Khanye Cogdell!

Tonight, we’re incredibly proud to recognize Tim O’Neill and Khanye Cogdell on their graduation from the Penobscot County Fire Academy!

Tim and Khanye have put in countless hours throughout the summer completing online coursework, studying, and preparing, all while continuing to balance work, life, and their responsibilities with our department. They then spent the last 14 days completing the intensive hands-on practical portion of the academy.

We couldn’t be prouder of the work Tim and Khanye have put in to reach this milestone. Their dedication not only makes them better firefighters, but makes our entire department stronger.

Please join us in congratulating Firefighter Tim O’Neill and Firefighter Khanye Cogdell on this well-earned accomplishment!

🚨Power restored & roads back open everywhere that we know of around town, with the exception of Birch Pt. Rd.

Following this afternoon’s thunderstorms, our crews are out making repairs to restore service to about 16,500 customers, mostly in Penobscot and Hancock counties.

Crews will be addressing public safety concerns and reports of downed power lines first. We will work overnight, but customers who do not have power restored by 10 pm should expect to be without power until tomorrow.

To keep our crews and yourself safe, please give our team space to do their essential work.

Area of 258 Bald Mountain Rd. Wires & transformer down. ROAD OPEN.

183 Murray Rd - Tree on wires. Would use extreme caution if you decide to drive under the tree as it’s being held up by wires.

Area of 19 Birch Pt. Rd - Tree & wires across road. ROAD CLOSED.

Area of 14 Granite Rd- Pole, Wires, & tree blocking road. ROAD CLOSED.

Area of 739 Lakeview Ave- Tree on wires blocking 3/4 of road. ROAD CLOSED.

That’s what we know as of now. We’ve called all these into Versant & they’ll head this way as soon as they can. We’ll keep you updated as we know more.

It’s not always emergencies that keep our apparatus busy!

Yesterday, Tanker 374 was happy to lend a hand by helping fill the school’s water tank so they can continue watering their newly seeded baseball field. Supporting our community comes in many forms, and we’re always glad to help when we can.

Good luck to the grounds crew—we’re looking forward to seeing the field ready for the season!
