A huge thank you to the many volunteers who supported the Norfolk County Sheriff's House to House for Heroes veterans' outreach in Town of Holbrook on Saturday!
Volunteers with the sheriff's office visited nearly 400 veteran homes, delivering packets of information about the benefits and services available to veterans. The event was another great success thanks to their efforts.
The outreach began after a kickoff ceremony hosted by Sheriff Patrick McDermott, which paused for a moment of silence in honor of the 82nd anniversary of D-Day and was highlighted by the recognition of the event's Honorary Veteran Chairperson, Paul Marshall. Paul is a US Navy veteran who also serves as the assistant to the veterans' agent for the office overseeing veterans' services in Braintree, Holbrook, and Avon. The VSO for all three towns is George Andes, who joined Sheriff McDermott and Paul Marshall to knock on veterans' doors in Holbrook. Those visits are meaningful and also offer a chance to thank local veterans for their service. Holbrook was the ninth Norfolk County community visited by the NCSO's House to House for Heroes effort. We have found that many veterans are unaware of the benefits available to them, and this outreach helps them connect with people who can secure those benefits for them. The NCSO will host other veterans' outreach events this summer and fall. Please join us if you are able!
