Today is Memorial Day, a time to reflect and remember the soldiers and people who have passed in military service to our country. Did you know, it was once named as Decoration Day? There are many ways to honor those who have passed in service to our country, including remembering their stories. Besides reading books that our library offers, Kanopy has movies available to watch for free.

Sands of Iwo Jima (1949), directed by Allan Dwan, is an action film featuring John Wayne as John Stryker, a tough-as-nails Marine sergeant who is greatly disliked by his squad. He puts them through rigorous combat training, from training to the battle of Iwo Jima during World War II. This movie was nominated for four Academy Awards, including Best Writing and Best Actor.
