RECOGNITION BY OTHERS
Many entities, as posted on this page, are recognizing Decatur
as an exceptional place to live and work.

Footnote:We have too many positive things to promote to resort to the kind of things the Bowling campaign is fabricating about us.Their "tall tales" are demeaning to the election process and to the office of the mayor.

We ask our true friends to share this with all their friends, and to get them to the polls on October 4th. Thank you.

09/15/2016

It is time to emphasize the importance of your getting out to vote on October 4. Only 9,100 people voted on August 23, and it is very possible that 5,000, or less, will decide who will serve as mayor the next four years. We are asking all of the Kyle friends to support continuing positive city improvements, by committing to vote Kyle, on the fourth, and to making sure that they each take two friends to vote Kyle also.

This should make all question the clamor for change, and 21 more could easily be named. Has everyone forgotten 2008 and what an uninformed choice resulted in?

Positive news is here in Decatur and you don’t have to look too hard to find it. While election seasons unfortunately bring with it forecasts of gloom and doom, when faced with facts, the weather looks bright for the River City.Individually, each of the following is a flash of good news. Another positive addition to our city, aided by discussions between owner/developer and Mayor Kyle.

Can you imagine the possibilities and opportunities once the Home2 Suites opens in Ingalls Harbor? Decatur hosts Big Brothers Big Sisters' Riverfest, Brandon Palaniuk and the Bassmasters Elite Series fishing tournament, Decatur Heritage Fishing Team and the Alabama BASS Nation High School fishing tournaments, and a multitude of other events and activities. This location is also easily accessed by our industries, Jack Allen Recreation Complex, and Point Mallard Decatur Alabama.

People are asking about my opponent's plan, and no one has yet seen one. Of all his spoken and printed words, including the tomes written by some of his supporters, only general statements and innuendo are there. His travel sports facility is a big loser and won't be built by investors, his trade training idea is already in place through our junior colleges, our police and firefighters are already receiving great new equipment, departmental budgets are all above pre-recession levels, overall crime is down, economic development has ballooned the school budget, we have multiple large road projects both recently finished and ready to start, and administrative changes are under way to keep city government from growing too fast.

Check out these comments from this morning's Decatur Daily editorial. They are on the bulls eye. All you've heard from the Bowling camp is general rhetoric about change and promises he cannot accomplish on his own, much less fund without taking something else away. The Bowling skill set, regarding city government, is barren, in spite of his campaign success to date.

Congratulations to Misters Ard, Jackson, and Kirby, for keeping their Council seats. To those still competing for a seat, thanks for offering yourselves to service.

This morning has been even more hectic than Election Night. Thank you to all who supported me yesterday, and to all who came out to vote for anyone. It is so important that we stay invoved in the election process. Thanks to my wife of 43 years, my three children, and my three grandchildren for always being beside me with love and support. We ask that all of you look closely at the two remaining mayoral candidates, beyond the rhetoric of change for the sake of change, and help me keep positive activities going at runoff time, by keeping me in office.

Two of the most outstanding and long tenured public servants, in Decatur history, have endorsed Don Kyle for re-election. That should put aside the rhetoric spread by the challengers. Keep Kyle working for you Tuesday, August 23.

Proud to have the endorsement of two outstanding city leaders, now retired, Chief Ed Taylor and Animal Services Director Danny Melson. They have a combined 77 years service to Decatur citizens and were outstanding to work with during my 8 years with them. This ad ran in the Decatur Daily August 7.

Please look closly at this. The other candidates, combined, cannot present such a professional capability, much less proven good results.Mayor Kyle is a past president of Decatur Civitan Club, a member of Daybreak Rotary(and Paul Harris Fellow),founder of Gospel group: Plus One, and frequently gives time to other chairitable causes, in addition to the mayoral duties. Make your vote really count by voting Kyle for the best future in Decatur.

Look for this Sunday, 7/24, in the Decatur Daily. These are some of the qualities you should have in your mayor. More will arrive in your mailbox soon, too. I need your vote August 23 to continue the improvements started and pending.
