Each May, the Decatur Fire Department tests every section of hose on every fire apparatus throughout the city to ensure our equipment remains safe, reliable, and ready to serve the citizens of Decatur when needed most.

The Decatur Fire Department proudly congratulates Riley Reynolds on his promotion to Lieutenant!

Over his 7 years with the department, Riley has distinguished himself through his professionalism, leadership, dedication, and commitment to serving both the department and the community.

Riley serves as a member of the Dive Team, HAZMAT Team, and Technical Rescue Team, playing an important role in many of the department’s specialized operations. He is also responsible for maintaining the department’s SCBA air packs, helping ensure our firefighters have safe and reliable equipment ready for every response.

Beyond his work within the department, Riley also shares his knowledge and passion for the fire service as an instructor with the Illinois Fire Service Institute at the University of Illinois, helping train and mentor firefighters from across the state.

Congratulations, Lieutenant Reynolds, on this well-deserved promotion!!

Now in his 14th year of service, Lieutenant Brownfield has consistently demonstrated dedication, professionalism, and leadership throughout his career. He has served as an active member of the HAZMAT and Technical Rescue Teams and has also played a leading role in the department’s firefighter cancer prevention program, helping advance the health and safety of our members.

Lieutenant Brownfield will now serve on 1st Battalion, Engine Company #3. Congratulations, Lieutenant Brownfield, on this well-earned promotion and this next chapter in your career!
