🐞 BUG Award! 🐞

Today we celebrated students who were caught “Being Unusually Good” by showing great behavior by doing the right thing—even when no one is watching! These students show honesty, responsibility, kindness, and good character every day. We are so proud of them for making great choices and being positive role models at school! ⭐️👏

Ms. Cook’s class wrapped up their place value unit with a fun and tasty activity. These mathematicians used cheese-it’s for hundreds, pretzel sticks for tens and M&M’s for ones to build and represent numbers. Then came the Jelly Bean challenge when students had the chance to come up to the board to write the number they were given in expended form to earn a jelly bean! They ended the activity with math snacks while listening to their favorite Place Value song!a

😃😔🥴 Feelings in Counseling

For a feeling identification activity, the 1st graders played musical chairs with an emotional twist. The last student standing without a chair was asked a question about their emotions:

How are you feeling right now? Can you share a story about a time you felt happy? What’s the funniest thing that has happened today?

Once they shared, they got to return to the game. The kids enjoyed sharing their experiences so much, they started trying to be the last one standing.

🔢 Math in Motion! 🔢

Students in Mrs. Couch’s class had fun exploring numbers larger than 300 using base-ten blocks! They created their own numbers and then participated in a scoot activity, moving around the room and using their math skills to guess the numbers their classmates had built. What a fun, hands-on way to practice place value! 🧮💙💛
