📣 Decatur BBQ Volunteers Needed! 🇺🇸🔥

For everyone who is already helping — and for anyone who would like to help — with the Decatur BBQ coming up next Saturday, September 12th, we’d love to have you involved!

The Chamber of Commerce will be having a meeting tomorrow evening (Tuesday, 6pm) at Veterans Park to go over the events, volunteer positions, and the jobs everyone will be helping with.

This could be a large event, and we’re expecting it to be a very hot day, so every helping hand will be greatly appreciated! 💪☀️

Let’s work together to make this a fun, safe, and memorable event for all of our citizens, as well as the guests visiting us from nearby communities and those traveling in.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Cody Tosta.(479) 212-1509

Thank you to everyone willing to pitch in and help make the Decatur BBQ a great event! ❤️🇺🇸

Let’s make it a day to remember!

This young lady is Rusne, and she will be in the Decatur area today. She has completed her permit for door to door sales, and she is very pleasant to visit with. I let her know that we have some of the best people in Arkansas living in Decatur. Everyone stay safe and don't get to hot today.

Coffee with the Chief

Just a reminder that Coffee with the Chief will be held tomorrow morning, August 8th, at 8:30 a.m. at Gallery Café.

No one has brought any specific topics to me for discussion, but I have asked several community leaders to provide brief updates:

The Mayor will give an overview of the meetings he attended this week.
The Chamber President will discuss upcoming Chamber events and activities.
A representative from the Veterans Association will talk about the possibility of organizing a Veterans Parade in the near future.
A member of the Planning Commission will provide an update on the growth Decatur is experiencing and what residents might expect over the next year.

Be sure to bring your appetite and join us for good conversation and community fellowship.

As your Chief of Police, I want to personally thank the amazing people of Decatur and the surrounding area for being such great citizens and for the continued support you show our police department personnel. Many of these officers do not get paid enough for some of the difficult situations they face, yet they continue to step forward to meet every challenge. More often than not, they come away talking about the wonderful people they have met and served along the way.

I appreciate your support, and I look forward to seeing you tomorrow morning.

Just a reminder: there will be a Town Hall meeting tonight, August 3, at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall.

The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the recently completed water and wastewater rate study, explain the findings, and provide information about why water rates are expected to increase over the next several years.

As many understand it, the Decatur City Council and Mayor have worked hard to keep rates as low as possible, even when the city was operating at a loss while purchasing water for residents. However, state requirements now mandate that the water and sewer systems remain financially sustainable, and the city can no longer continue absorbing those losses.

The presenter will review the study results, explain what steps are needed to address the issues, and discuss what residents can expect in the near future.

If possible, please attend and hear the information firsthand. This is a great opportunity to ask questions and get accurate information rather than relying on rumors, speculation, or incomplete information shared on social media.
