We had a great Coffee with the Chief this morning! The Mayor and I want to thank everyone who attended. We had productive discussions about the projects we’ve accomplished over the last few weeks, as well as several exciting upcoming projects for our community.

We are fortunate to have so many veterans in our community, and it’s important to remember and appreciate their service every time we enjoy the freedoms we have today.

We had a great Decatur Chamber of Commerce meeting at the Gallery Cafe last night! A huge thank you to the Gallery staff for taking such great care of us, and to everyone who came out and joined the meeting.

We were honored to have Victoria Roe with Ozarks New Hope Community Resource Center give a presentation about the services and programs they will be bringing to our community.

We also discussed the upcoming Coffee with the Chief event, which will be held on May 16th at 8:30 AM at the Gallery Cafe.

The Iva Jane Peek Public Library also shared information about their upcoming Kids Summer Reading Sidewalk Chalk Competition, which will take place June 13th from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Veterans Park. They are currently looking for sponsors. For more information, call 479-752-2323 or email [email protected].

We talked about the upcoming Decatur BBQ happening on September 12, 2026. There are lots of activities planned, plenty of great food, live music beginning at 2:00 PM, and the day will end with a fantastic fireworks show.

We also discussed this year’s Christmas Parade. The date will be announced later to give everyone time to prepare.

We all enjoyed the food and fellowship and look forward to everything the Chamber of Commerce will continue bringing to Decatur!

For the past couple of years, businesses and individuals in our area have come together to help fund the Decatur Pool so that no admission fee is charged for community members to enjoy it. These donations help cover upkeep expenses and provide certified lifeguards to ensure a safe environment for everyone.

Operating a public pool safely and cleanly requires significant funding, and there are many ways we hope to continue improving the facility. Future upgrades could include new equipment, water slides, additional tables and seating areas, and improvements to the changing rooms and bathrooms.

If you or your business would like to help support the Decatur Pool, please contact Kim Wilkins at the City of Decatur at 479-752-3912. She will be happy to discuss current needs, possible upgrades, and any donations you may wish to contribute.

The Decatur Chamber of Commerce will be holding our monthly meeting on Thursday, May 14th at the Gallery Cafe. The meeting will begin at 6:00 PM.

We encourage everyone who wants to see Decatur continue to grow and succeed to come join us! We will be discussing upcoming events and sharing ideas for future activities and opportunities we would like to see here in Decatur.

We hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and had the chance to honor their mothers on Mother’s Day.

There has been so much happening in our small town lately, so I wanted to remind everyone about a few upcoming events and opportunities to connect with our community leaders.

On Saturday, May 16th, 8:30am we will be hosting “Coffee with the Chief” at the Gallery Cafe. This is a great opportunity for us to come together as a community. Chief Grizzle and Mayor Johnson will be there to answer questions, hear suggestions, and visit with anyone who would like to attend.

We appreciate the Gallery Cafe for allowing us to meet there, so we ask everyone to be respectful of their business by visiting, eating, drinking, and then making room for other customers in a timely manner. If anyone needs additional time to speak with me afterward, I will be happy to meet at the Police Department.

We are also fortunate to have a fantastic group of veterans here in Decatur who have done so much for our country. If you are a veteran or have family members who are veterans, please feel free to join us. You may reconnect with old friends or learn more about local veteran activities and opportunities.

This is an open invitation to anyone in our city and surrounding areas. We’ll be discussing current projects happening in our community, listening to ideas and suggestions from citizens about what they would like to see in the future, and continuing to build trust through transparency and open communication.

Our goal is simple: to help make our community safer, stronger, and more connected. We believe a transparent approach is a great place to start.

The Decatur Mayor plans to attend as well, and he has done a great job so far serving our community.

What an incredible day in Decatur! 🎉 On May 5th, 2026, the Decatur Chamber of Commerce proudly celebrated the Grand Opening of The Gallery Cafe—and it did not disappoint.

From the moment the doors opened, the energy was amazing. The food was absolutely incredible, and the support from the community was overwhelming. In fact, word has it they sold out of everything and are already placing new orders—that’s how many people showed up to celebrate!

We’re beyond excited to have The Gallery back open in Decatur. A huge thank you goes out to the entire team—the cooks, servers, and everyone behind the scenes—who made the day so special for every guest who walked through the door.

Let’s keep the momentum going! Spread the word and invite friends, family, and travelers to come experience everything our city has to offer. Let’s see just how far people will come to visit Decatur! 🚗✨
