On March 15 at 9:03 PM, A-Shift units with Decatur Fire & Rescue were dispatched to a residential structure fire in the area of Cumberland Avenue SW.

Units responding included Battalion 2, Engine 5, Engine 1, Tower 4, and Engine 2.

Battalion 2 arrived on scene reporting a working fire with smoke showing. Engine 5 arrived shortly after and stretched a pre-connected hose line, making entry into the residence to begin fire attack. At the same time, crews from Engine 1 conducted a primary search of the home.

Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire and bring the situation under control. The family’s cat and dog were rescued and safely returned to their owners.

One family was displaced as a result of the fire. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

The 2025 Station 5 Christmas Party was a great success, filled with great food, laughter, and even better fellowship. We’re thankful for the opportunity to spend time together reflecting on the year and the service we’re proud to provide the community.

As our Team Brooklyn Fundraiser comes to a close, we’d like to take the time to say thank you to every single person who helped make our fundraiser an incredible success. Because of you—your generosity, your shares, and encouragement….we were able to raise just over $5500 for Team Brooklyn and the Williams Family! So again, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you!
