Crews from Decatur Utilities and Joshua Jackson Painting, an authorized DU contractor, have begun painting streetlight poles along the Gordon Dr. overpass.
This work is expected to continue throughout the weekend from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m daily.
Outside lanes will be closed as crews work along each side. Traffic will be merged into the inside lane when crews are present. Please watch for traffic control and proceed through the work zone at reduced speed.

DU has kicked off its 2026 United Way of Morgan County campaign. So far we've had Julie Murphy with FACES and Brad Romine and Dylan from CDD-NCA come speak to our October employee safety meetings to share about the impact local non-profits have on our community. Because DU does not make direct contributions out of ratepayer moneys, our employees step up to the plate and pledge donations out of their personal paychecks. This year our goal is $50,000. Paul Hughes and Minor Lamar from DU's Electric Ops team recently gave DCS elementary school principals a preview of our Safety in a Flash electrical safety program for fourth-graders. We are lining up presentations at local schools for the fall and spring and sincerely appreciate the opportunity to share with local students how to stay safe around electricity. We also have a natural gas safety module as well. It's called Safety in a Sniff.

Decatur Utilities will be performing natural gas construction work along Indian Hills Rd SE, between Red Bank Rd SE and Burningtree Valley Dr SE, on Wednesday, October 21st, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. During this time, southbound traffic on Indian Hills Rd SE will be closed for a short section near 4810 Indian Hills Rd, with traffic being merged into the Northbound lane via flaggers.

Utility workers will be on-site at 7:30 AM Wednesday morning to set up the necessary traffic control devices to notify motorists of the upcoming work zone. DU asks that motorists be aware of all traffic control devices, construction personnel, and equipment in the work zone and to approach the area with extreme caution and at a reduced speed.

Decatur Utilities will be performing water construction work along Danville Road near the Milkweed Pvt Dr intersection on Wednesday, October 21st, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. During this time, southbound traffic toward 5241 Danville Road will be closed for a short section to the north of Milkweed Pvt Drive, with traffic being merged into the northbound lane via flaggers.
