May 31 is World No To***co Day. This year’s theme is “Unmasking the appeal – countering ni****ne and to***co addiction.”

When to***co companies use flavors, bright packaging, and marketing tactics to drive addiction, people with disabilities are disproportionally impacted and face barriers to health care and cessation support. To effectively address this epidemic and prevent addiction, our public health strategies must be intentionally inclusive.

Here is how we can build a stronger, barrier-free defense:

Accessible Information: We must ensure the use of clear, plain-language communication so everyone has the knowledge needed to make an informed decision about using these products.

Inclusive Support: Ensure that evidence-based cessation services, resources, and clinical screening processes are fully accessible to all, including people with physical, sensory, intellectual, and cognitive disabilities.

Amplify Voices: Highlight the lived experiences and real-life success stories of people with disabilities who have successfully quit to***co and ni****ne products, to empower and inspire others.

Let's work together to ensure a to***co-free future is accessible to all.
