We had a last-minute opportunity to send one of our firefighters to a Truck Operations class in Sugar Land this week. Training opportunities like this are invaluable as we continue preparing for the arrival of our new truck, which is expected to be delivered within the next 6โ€“8 months.

Investing in training before the apparatus arrives ensures our crews are ready to safely and effectively operate the truck from day one. We are committed to providing the highest level of service to our community, and that starts with preparation.

This weekend, we sent our Training Officer, James Cook, to attend the class. We always look forward to bringing this knowledge back to our department and putting it to work for the citizens we serve.

The Decatur Fire Department Foundation celebrated an exciting milestone today as they awarded the first scholarships from the newly formed foundation. This year, the Foundation presented two $2,000 scholarships to deserving recipients through The Roy Eaton Scholarship program.

To be eligible, applicants had to be pursuing a future in the Fire Service. Today, Kale Jones and Caden Cobb were presented with their scholarship checks.

We are incredibly proud of these young men and look forward to seeing what the future holds for them. It is an honor for the Foundation to support the next generation entering the fire service.

A Shift getting in some training this morning! The goal: deploy, get the heart rate up, and perform scene size-up under pressure. Training like this helps our crew understand the importance of effective radio communications and staying sharp when every second counts.

Our C Shift crew has spent the past month taking on workouts named in honor of famous military heroes, pushing themselves physically while remembering the sacrifice and dedication of those who served.

This morning, they completed โ€œThe Murphโ€ โ€” one of the most challenging and well-known hero workouts. Their commitment to fitness, mental toughness, and teamwork continues to make us proud.

A special shoutout to Firefighter Rust, who even came in on his day off this morning to join his shift for the workout. He has been leading this fitness initiative with the crew over the past month, and his dedication and leadership have made a tremendous impact.

Strong crews are built through hard work together, and these firefighters continue to show what dedication looks like every single day. Great job, C Shift! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

A huge thank you to The Hills Nursing and Rehab for absolutely coming in clutch with groceries for each shift here at the fire station.

This wasnโ€™t just random shopping thrown together. They took the time to learn what each shift normally buys and made sure our crews were stocked with the everyday items they actually use. That kind of thoughtfulness means a lot to us.

There was clearly a lot of heart and soul put into this effort, and we are incredibly grateful for the support and kindness shown to our firefighters. Thank you for always looking out for our crews and helping keep us fueled and ready to serve our community!

A huge thank you to First Financial Bank for their generous water donation to the Decatur Fire Department! You truly saved the dayโ€”we were completely out.

Many people ask how they can support our crew, and water is always one of the most appreciated donations. Our firefighters are constantly refueling after training sessions, emergency calls, and long shifts. Snacks such as beef jerky, granola bars, crackers, Clif Bars, and other grab-and-go items are always a big hit.

We are incredibly grateful for this wonderful community that continually looks out for us. Your support means more than you know!

Our Prevention Team took on Career Day yesterday at McCarroll Middle School! ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ”ฅ

We appreciate the invitation and the opportunity to interact with our youth, share what we do, and hopefully inspire some future firefighters and first responders.

Thank you to McCarroll Middle School for welcoming us and allowing us to be a part of such a great event!

Training in the heat! ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿš’

Today, firefighters from the Decatur Fire Department trained alongside personnel from Wise County EMS and Wise County ESD No. 1 in the flashover chamber at Tarrant County College.

The flashover chamber provides realistic live-fire conditions, allowing first responders to observe fire behavior, recognize dangerous conditions, and sharpen critical decision-making skills in a controlled environment.

Training like this strengthens teamwork and ensures our crews are prepared to respond safely and effectively when our community needs us most.

Thank you to all of our partners for your commitment to continuous training and professional development.
