NEW HIRE: Welcome to the Red Raider Family, Coach Justin Kephart! He's the new head Strength and Conditioning Coach.

Decatur City Schools is thrilled to announce the addition of Justin Kephart to the coaching staff at Decatur High School- Decatur, Al.

Coach Kephart comes to Decatur from Athens, Alabama, bringing nine years of valuable coaching experience. He has spent the last seven years coaching in Georgia, most recently at Cedartown Middle School in Cedartown.

As a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach, he has a proven track record of building elite training programs for athletes in grades 6 through 12. In addition to his strength and conditioning background, Coach Kephart has extensive experience coaching Football, Baseball, and Track & Field. He is dedicated to helping student-athletes maximize their speed, strength, and confidence through a collaborative, team-first approach.

Coach Kephart and his wife, Haley, are excited to relocate and become an active part of the Decatur community.

WELCOME: Welcome to the Team, Coach Nicholas Holland! Coach Holland is the new Head Varsity Baseball Coach at Decatur High School- Decatur, Al.

Originally from the Shoals area, Coach Holland attended Deshler High School before building an impressive career as a baseball player and trainer. He competed at Dyersburg State Community College in Tennessee, where he was a 2016 TCCAA/Region XII champion and an All-Conference selection. He then transferred to the University of North Alabama (UNA), where he was a two-year starter and led the team in both hitting and fielding percentage during his senior year. Following his collegiate career, Coach Holland played three seasons of professional baseball in Germany and France.

Throughout and following his professional playing career, Coach Holland has spent seven years coaching in the private sector. During this time, he has successfully trained more than 20 All-State players and 13 college signees. Over the past two years, he also founded and built the 256 RiverDogs travel organization, which has grown to include 15 teams across various youth age groups.

Coach Holland firmly believes that coaching extends far beyond the game itself. He holds a philosophy that winning is the natural result of a team culture rooted in toughness, discipline, grit, and accountability. Recognizing that the game of baseball closely parallels life, he is deeply passionate about developing young men who will find success in every facet of life through the lifelong lessons taught on the field

**CLARIFICATION: Students participating in summer school will be served first. Meals will be offered to the community as long as supplies are still available.**

FREE SUMMER MEALS FOR KIDS AND TEENS: Decatur City Schools is proud to host the Summer Meal Program! Free healthy meals are available to any child 18 years old and younger living in Decatur and Morgan County. No registration or sign-ups are required.

DCS SUMMER CAMP: Ready for a fun-filled summer? Registration is officially open for DCS Extended Day Summer Camp!

We are excited to welcome students for an amazing summer of activities, field trips, and new friendships. Check out the full details below to get your student signed up!

📅 Dates: May 27 – July 31
⏰ Hours: Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
📍 Location: Leon Sheffield Elementary

💳 Registration & Weekly Fees
Registration Fee: $132 per child (includes field trip and supply fees) 1 Child (Full-Time): $90 per week
2 Children (Full-Time): $80 per week, per child
3+ Children (Full-Time): $76 per week, per child.
Part-Time: $53 per week, per child
DCS Employees will receive a tuition discount.

Parent Tips & Policies:
To ensure a smooth experience, please keep these important camp guidelines in mind:

Payments & Pickups: Payments must be made during the week of attendance and prior to receiving services.

Online payments, checks, and money orders are accepted. Please note that a $ 3-per-minute late fee applies to any pickup after 6:00 p.m.

First Day Reminder: Please remember to bring your insurance card on the very first day of camp.

Lunches: Parents must provide a daily lunch and drink. All items must be packed in disposable containers (no glass or reusable containers). A refrigerator is available for use, but a microwave is not.

What to Bring: A labeled water bottle/thermos, a change of clothes, and a blanket/pillow for quiet time. Please make sure your child's name is on everything they bring!

What to Leave at Home: Cell phones, smartwatches, tablets, trading cards, and personal electronic games are not permitted.

Sunscreen: DCS staff will not apply sunscreen, so please apply it to your child before they arrive at camp each day.
