💙 September is Kinship Care Month, and this Sunday is National Grandparents Day - two things that belong in the same conversation.

When a child can't safely stay at home, being placed with someone they already know and love - a grandparent, relative, or close family friend - can help them stay connected to their people, history, and sense of familiarity.

Across our communities, grandparents and relatives step into unexpected roles, rearranging their lives to provide love, stability, and a safe place for a child to grow.

It's not always easy, and much of that sacrifice happens quietly.

So this weekend, we're saying thank you to every grandparent, relative, and kinship caregiver in Wise and Jack Counties. Your willingness to step up makes a lasting difference in the lives of children. 💙

🏃 𝟲 𝗪𝗘𝗘𝗞𝗦 𝗧𝗢 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗗𝗔𝗦𝗛 - 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝟭 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻

Happy Labor Day. If you've got the day off, we'd like to make a suggestion.

𝗥𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟳 - almost six weeks from today, which is exactly enough time to go from "I don't run" to crossing the finish line on Main Street.

This week: Three sessions, 20 minutes each. Alternate 1 minute of easy jogging with 2 minutes of walking. That's it.

No pace goals. No gear you have to buy.

𝘐𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶'𝘥 𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘸𝘢𝘭𝘬 𝘢𝘭𝘭 3.1 𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘯 𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘥𝘢𝘺, 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵'𝘴 𝘢 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘺 𝘭𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 - 𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘣𝘦 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘺𝘰𝘶.

💙 Advocate Spotlight: Suzanne Dalton 💙

Suzanne has been a CASA Advocate for six months.

She first learned about CASA through social media and felt called to become an advocate because of her passion for helping children. Suzanne believes every child deserves to feel seen, valued, and supported, especially during difficult times.
Her favorite part of being an advocate is providing encouragement, stability, and a voice for children who may not otherwise have one.

🎒 Back to school looks different for children in foster care - and the numbers tell an important story.

📊 24% of students in foster care receive special education services - nearly 3x the rate of other students
📊 47% attended two or more schools in a single school year
📊 Only 2–9% of youth formerly in foster care earn a college degree
📊 16% receive out-of-school suspension at more than 3x the rate of other students

CASA volunteers show up at school meetings, review educational records, and advocate to make sure every child in their care has what they need to succeed.
