🚗 We’re back for Year 2! Don't miss out!

The DeKalb County Solicitor-General’s Office is bringing back the 2nd Annual Youth Safe Driving Summit on Saturday, October 3, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Rehoboth Church in Tucker.

Check out pics from last year as teens/parents enjoyed this FREE event... featuring interactive activities, driving safety education, community resources, giveaways, free food and opportunities to connect with professionals who understand the challenges young drivers face.

Come together to learn, engage, and have important conversations about making safer choices behind the wheel.

The DeKalb County Solicitor-General’s Office congratulates Terry G. Phillips on his appointment as DeKalb County Attorney! This week, Lorraine Cochran-Johnson for DeKalb CEO announced the appointment - confirmed by DeKalb County Commissioners.

With nearly three decades of service to DeKalb County and more than 30 years of legal experience, Terry brings tremendous institutional knowledge, integrity and a longstanding commitment to public service to this important leadership role.

Our team is in Athens and Connected for Change!!!

Alexis Tuggle, Jacqueline Beckhom, and Amaya Ball from the DeKalb County Solicitor-General’s Office are attending the 32nd Annual Statewide Family Violence Conference, hosted by the Georgia Commission on Family Violence

This year’s theme, “Georgia in Action: Connected for Change,” reinforces something we see every day: addressing family violence requires collaboration, continued learning and a shared commitment to safety, accountability and justice.

We are proud to be part of the statewide effort to create safer homes and stronger communities.

Different units. Different responsibilities. ONE shared mission: serving DeKalb County with purpose, collaboration and a commitment to justice.

Today’s office-wide training took a more interactive approach as employees rotated from presenter to presenter in a round-robin format, hearing directly from leaders across the DeKalb County Solicitor-General’s Office.

Each unit and program highlighted three key things they want employees to know and understand about their work, giving staff a chance to reconnect with familiar teams, learn more about areas they may not work with every day, and see how each part of the office contributes to our larger mission.

The moving format kept the energy high and the conversations focused.

“We are victim-centered and community oriented. We pursue justice, not just convictions. We offer solutions over problems.”

The Solicitor closed the meeting with a reminder to remain centered on the people we serve and the solutions we can provide.

🎓 We’re back in school and connecting schools, families and community!

Our Diversion Program recently joined DeKalb County School District social workers for a conversation on Educational Neglect: Chronic Absenteeism & Senate Bill 123, which impacts school attendance protocols.

Deputy Chief of Diversion Shari Jones discussed how schools and community partners can work together to address attendance concerns and support students and families.

She was joined by Charlotte Starks from our office and DCSD Lead Social Worker Katina Watts, along with social workers from across the district.

Our Diversion Program is about more than addressing cases after they reach the justice system. It’s also about education, early intervention and connecting families with resources.

We appreciate our partnership with DeKalb County School District and the social workers supporting students and families every day!
