March 2026 included Robes Reading GA (judges reading to elementary students across the state), swearing in a new member to the Georgia Bar, and attending the Law & Economics Conference at George Mason University School of Law.

While in the DC area, I had an opportunity to visit the wonderful Smithsonian museums and appreciate the history of our nation’s capital.

February 2026. Enjoyed two great Bar events - GDLA’s Judicial Reception and AAML’s High Rollers at the High! Always good to hang out with Judge Dear Jackson and Judge Brown.

Laughed and cried at my friend and colleague’s retirement celebration. Judge Stacey Hydrick, you will be missed.

And was surprised to see my younger self on the alumni page!

In January, I started my new term learning about digital evidence and AI. I was honored to welcome a few friends into the Council of Superior Court Judges a few weeks later. I closed the month attending an event with colleagues for our new CEO.

Happy Holidays!
2025 has been a busy year for me and Division 8 of DeKalb County Superior Court. I will do my best to provide an overview of our year as we countdown to 2026. Thank you all for your constant support and encouragement.

The first quarter of 2025 has been busy. Here are a few highlights beyond the weekly trials and daily hearings:

This term started with judicial trainings, including computer forensics. I took a computer apart AND put it back together! (OK - I will admit that the parts were labeled and I had assistance. Don’t judge. Let me have this small victory.)

Our bench celebrated our DeKalb County administration and state legislators for their dedication and service. I went to an ecumenical program hosted by CEO Cochran Johnson for County staff and elected officials. I also attended the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus Annual Heritage Gala chaired by Rep. Doreen Carter. Rep. Billy Mitchell made sure we all got a picture together.

I participated in the Power to Inspire celebration for Shirley Franklin and the Stone Mountain Jack & Jill Chapter’s Met Gala. Both events supported uplifting community programs.

I had a great time reading to the students at Mt. Zion Elementary School during Robes Reading across Georgia. (Full disclosure- I probably had more fun than the kids.)

I shared the general structure and benefits of accountability courts to the 2025 Leadership DeKalb Class. I then explained my role as Presiding Judge over our Veterans Treatment Court.

I am blessed with an incredible staff and helpful colleagues who are dedicated to this work. I look forward to what this next quarter holds for us.

She is still MISSING. Thank you for your continued prayers.
