Reminder to get started with Decatur Transit Pay if you have not already!

Starting January 1, 2027, we will no longer accept cash or coins as payment on our buses. We will continue to remind riders and post frequently about this upcoming change.

Decatur Transit Pay can be downloaded on a mobile device or used at www.decaturtransitpay.com on any internet browser. Create an account, purchase bus fares, then validate your trips on the bus using a mobile device, Smart Rider's card, or with a QR code.

Validate your bus trips with Decatur Transit Pay!

The new cashless way to pay for bus trips is live. Download the Decatur Transit Pay app or use www.decaturtransitpay.com to purchase bus fares. Then, validate your trip with a mobile device, Smart Rider's Card, or with a QR code. Just tap your mobile device or Smart Rider's Card on the bus validator kiosk or have it scan your QR code.

Starting January 1, 2027, we will no longer accept cash or coins as payment on our buses. Over the next three months, staff and drivers will remind riders and we will post frequently about this upcoming change.

Our fixed-route buses will pick up passengers only at posted bus stops, including those locations marked by a bus stop sign, transit shelter, or designated bus stop bench. Buses will not make flag down stops.

Super excited to celebrate a successful first year of Decatur Moves!

Happy birthday, Decatur Moves 🥳

One year ago, we launched our on-demand microtransit service, connecting residents and visitors all across Decatur and Macon County. In one year, we moved over 170,000 passengers across more than 160,000 total trips while averaging 500 passengers each day!

We recognize a possible need to expand, and we look forward to future service enhancements such as extended hours, and more vehicles & drivers on the road.

Meet Mason Mears 👋 He is a Transit Fleet Mechanic, helping maintain and keep all transit vehicles on the road, including buses, Decatur Moves vans, and other transit support vehicles. Mason has been with the City for 6 months.

What he likes best about Decatur: "I grew up here and working in public transit I get to see a lot of familiar faces. I like that we are such a tight-knit community."

The Illinois Department of Transportation is asking the public for their feedback on the state's transportation system and the agency’s performance through the annual Traveler Opinion Survey. Open now through Tuesday, Aug. 11, the survey is available online by clicking https://go.uis.edu/Traveler2026 or visiting idot.illinois.gov

Conducted in partnership with the University of Illinois Springfield, the survey is an opportunity for people who live in Illinois to provide their opinion on a wide range of topics, giving IDOT the information it needs to continue to be a national leader in transportation services. This year’s survey asks for input on road conditions, ice and snow removal, planning priorities, electronic vehicles and more.
