WATER IS GOOD TO DRINK — The City of Decatur will temporarily change the disinfection process at its water treatment plant beginning today, the city announced Monday. The plant will switch from chloramine, a combination of chlorine and ammonia, to free chlorine through Sept. 30. Residents may see Decatur Public Works crews flushing fire hydrants more frequently to help circulate the free chlorine throughout the system. Temporary water discoloration is possible. The water will remain safe to drink and use during the change, the city’s announcement on Facebook said. Normal chloramine treatments are expected to resume after Sept. 30. Residents with questions can contact Decatur Public Works at 940-393-0260.

As summer flies by, now is a great time for families to start preparing for the upcoming school year. Many students may need required vaccinations before returning to school, so don't wait until the last minute to schedule an appointment.
The City of Decatur Health Department would like to share information about immunization services available through the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS).
Please note that the City of Decatur does not provide immunization services. Residents seeking immunizations may schedule an appointment with the nearest DSHS office in Gainesville.

🚨 Recall Alert for Parents 🚨

Nearly 90,000 bottles of children’s ibuprofen have been recalled due to possible contamination.

👉 This recall affects certain 4 oz bottles of children’s ibuprofen oral suspension (distributed nationwide).
👉 Reported concerns include a gel-like substance and black particles in the medication.

While the risk is considered low, we always recommend:
✔️ Check your bottle’s lot number
✔️ Stop using it if it’s affected
✔️ Reach out to your pediatrician with any concerns
