A national historic landmark, the home is closed for restoration, but the grounds are open for visitors daily from 8 a.m. Parking is free in Lot G across Fair Lane Drive. Fair Lane Estate was home to Clara and Henry for more than 30 years. A nonprofit cares for the estate and has launched a multi-year endeavor to bring the legacy of the Ford family and the enjoyment of Fair Lane to future generations. From caring for historic landscapes and maintaining beautiful garden spaces to preserving Jens Jensen's vision for Fair Lane, their dedication helps ensure that this special place can be enjoyed by visitors for generations to come. Clara had a deep appreciation for flowers and gardens. As spring begins to give way to summer, we're still in awe of the vibrant colors and delicate blossoms that have brightened the grounds at Fair Lane over the past few months.

Each season brings something new to discover, and we're looking forward to the arrival of summer flowers and the ever-changing landscape they create. Clara's love of nature continues to inspire the beauty that surrounds Fair Lane today.

As Henry and Clara Ford developed Fair Lane, they enlisted renowned landscape architect Jens Jensen to design the estate's grounds. Jensen created a landscape filled with meadows, gardens, orchards, grottoes, winding paths, and other natural spaces for the Fords and their guests to explore and enjoy.

Today, we're highlighting one of those special features: the Rock Garden. Earlier this week, we shared a video showing what the Rock Garden looks like today, but this historic photograph offers a glimpse of the space as it appeared in 1920, a beautiful reminder of Jensen's original vision for Fair Lane.

Friendly Reminder: Fair Lane’s Parking Lot G will be closed as we make much-needed improvements.

During this time, all visitors and guests should park in Lot F. From Lot F, please cross Richard Drive to access the asphalt pathway (Gateway Trail), then follow the posted signs around the back of Lot G to the gate. Please refer to the map for parking and walking directions.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we complete these improvements. We will share updates as they become available.
