Reminder, Burleson County! 🚨

The Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) is conducting a statewide test of local public warning and emergency alert systems between 10AM and 12:30 PM on Thursday, April 2, 2026.

This drill will check the effectiveness of alerts on phones (Wireless Emergency Alerts/WEA), radios, TVs, sirens, and other tools.

Expect to hear/see test messages like: "This is a test of the Emergency Alert System. This is only a test." No action needed—it's just practice for preparedness

Stay Chill- It’s Just a Drill, No need to call 911 (unless you’re having a real emergency)

On Saturday, January 6, you may have noticed Deanville VFD, Caldwell Fire and Rescue Department, Black Jack VFD and Beaver Creek VFD dodging "trees" and other real-life obstacles (some with lights and sirens!) at Caldwell High School.

Those volunteers were participating in an Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC). Friday night kicked off with classroom instruction, followed by the real test on Saturday-navigating multiple driving scenarios designed to sharpen skills and reaction time.

Valuable lessons were learned, plenty of laughs were shared, and yes... a few "toes" were run over-but rest assured, no traffic cones were harmed in the process.

A huge shoutout to Jason Ware with TEEX for providing the training and doing an outstanding job teaching the class and Burleson County CERT for the drinks and snacks.

Thank you to all our first responders for taking the time to train and keep our community safe.
