FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

On Friday, May 8, 2026, officers with the De Soto Police Department responded to the 4100 block of Upper Plattin Road regarding a reported burglary. A witness reported observing a male subject leaving the garage of a neighboring residence carrying property believed to have been stolen from the home.

The suspect was described by both the witness and victim, and officers were familiar with the individual from a previous incident. Officers later responded to the suspect’s residence and took him into custody without incident.

The case was submitted to the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review. Formal charges of two counts of Burglary in the First Degree were issued against: Tyler Kinkead 26 year old male from De Soto

One of the charges stems from a separate burglary investigation that occurred on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, in the same area. During that incident, the suspect allegedly entered a garage and assaulted the resident while inside.

Kinkead is currently being held on a $20,000 bond.

The De Soto Police Department would like to thank the neighbor who contacted law enforcement and provided information related to the incident. We would also like to thank the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for their assistance and work in the issuance of charges.

All subjects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
