Check out the YSB legacies who have joined the Family Service Agency of DeKalb County team!

With the merge, there have been some position and title changes, including Shatoya Jackson, Director of School-Based Services, Page Palmer, Director of Crisis & Prevention, Sha’ Hill, Family Stabilization Services Lead, Heleena Barnett, Outreach and Program Assistant, Yuritzy Cruz, Finance & Administrative Coordinator, and Lucero Martinez, Clinician.

They have embraced each challenge along the way and are taking on any new opportunity to grow!
Just some of their accomplishments are:

• Everyone completing necessary training for FSA systems and processes
• Everyone successfully integrating school-based services at FSA
• Continuing groups and individual services in the schools and maintaining relationships with the schools
• Shatoya Jackson and Page Palmer completing ChildFirst forensic interviewer training
• Everyone completing 40 Developmental Assets training
• Everyone completing Darkness to Light training
• Heleena Barnett and Yuritzy Cruz completing Youth Mental Health First Aid Training

Since YSB has merged with Family Service Agency of DeKalb County, the FSA team has grown! Check out all the wonderful staff, current interns, and of course the facility dog, Duo Dog Laddie!!

Family Service Agency of DeKalb County exists to strengthen people and communities through healing, mentoring, and social engagement. They have five distinct community programs, including Youth Mentoring, Children’s Advocacy Center, Center for Counseling, Community Action Program, and Senior Services.

We would like to take a moment to give thanks to the DeKalb County Mental Health Board for funding our programs for the last 52 years! We are so grateful for your generosity.

Because of you, we have been able to provide programs and services to the youth of DeKalb County and have provided a safe space for our clients to learn and grow as individuals, which is priceless. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for everything you have done and continue to do.

We are so grateful for our staff and interns for all of the work they have done for YSB. Without their amazing help, support, and patience, we would not have been able to provide services to the youth of DeKalb County for as long as we have.

For the past 52 years, YSB has been honored to serve the members of the DeKalb community. We are proud of the diverse range of programs and services that we have been able to provide you with over the years, such as YSB’s Little Campers, Building Champions, Alternative to Suspension, and Youth and Family Counseling.

We also had Active Parenting, Managing Emotions Thoughts and Actions, Color Me Happy, Drug and Alcohol Intervention, and a 24-Hour Crisis Line.

While it’s tough to say goodbye, we’re eager to put our hearts into working with the team and transferring our programs over at the Family Service Agency in DeKalb, Illinois!

PSA: Family Service Agency and Youth Service Bureau Announce Merger

Thank you to the DeKalb County City and Fire Department for coming to show our Campers their trucks!

On our last day of camp, members of the Fire Department and Public Works came out to teach us about the importance of the fire department, and all the things they do for their communities.

The Campers had a blast checking out the trucks and equipment they brought with them, and they were even given stickers and Junior Firefighter hats!

We greatly appreciate all you do for our community and thank you for your service!
