The skies may have been smoky, but our ramp has stayed busy! ✈️

Aircraft from around the country have been making fuel stops at DeKalb Taylor Municipal Airport. With reduced visibility from the Canadian wildfire smoke, many crews made the safe decision to remain overnight until conditions improved.

Our team has been happy to assist visiting pilots and passengers by coordinating hotel accommodations, rental cars, transportation, restaurant recommendations, and anything else they needed while they waited for the weather to clear.

Safety always comes first, and we're proud to be a place pilots can count on when plans change.

We're looking forward to welcoming even more aircraft as Oshkosh AirVenture traffic begins to increase. Safe travels to everyone flying this week!

✈️ National Aerobatics Day Practice at DeKalb Taylor Municipal Airport! ✈️

On Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM the members of IAC Chapter 1 take to the skies for a full day of aerobatic practice at DeKalb Taylor Municipal Airport (KDKB)!

Pilots will be sharpening their skills, practicing competition sequences, and preparing for upcoming contests in a focused training environment. From Primary through Unlimited categories, you'll see some incredible flying throughout the day.

👀 The general public is welcome to spectate from designated public viewing areas!

DeKalb Airport is seeing strong charter and corporate traffic, highlighting the airport’s role as a key transportation hub.

We have welcomed multiple collegiate-level sports charters arriving and departing from locations outside Illinois to compete against NIU’s basketball teams, and several corporate flights operate in and out of the Airport each week.

Regional pilots didn’t miss last week’s chance to take to the skies during favorable weather. DeKalb Airport line service technicians were ready, assisting with refueling operations and on-demand customer service.

DeKalb Airport line staff successfully handled the recent early morning arrival of a Bombardier BD-100-1A10 despite difficult winter conditions.

Thanks to proactive efforts by Public Works, the runways were cleared of snow prior to touchdown. The aircraft was fueled, de-iced, and departed within an hour, demonstrating the team's commitment to rapid and reliable service.
