We can beat litter in DeKalb one cleanup at a time! On Saturday, June 8, will organize a community cleanup in partnership with the DeKalb County Sheriff's Department. Volunteers will meet at the corner of E Wesley Chapel Way and Snapfinger Woods Dr. at 8 a.m. Keep DeKalb Beautiful will provide supplies. Can't make it out on Saturday? No problem! This is just one in a series of cleanups Commissioner Johnson is organizing. Keep your eyes peeled for upcoming volunteer opportunities.

Who says cleaning can’t be fun? It looks like , the Greater Hidden Hills Community Development Corporation, the Meadow Brook Glenn HOA and the Green Forest Community Civic Association had a blast cleaning up DeKalb County District 7 this past Saturday. These volunteers from spent their Friday afternoon painting fire hydrants as part of the “Hydrant Heroes” program. DeKalb County has thousands of hydrants to inspect and paint each year, so volunteer groups like this are boon for our first responders. @ Gresham Park, Georgia

When we work together, we are unstoppable. Join us Saturday, May 18th, 8-10 a.m. for the Stonecrest District 5 Cleanup with Councilwoman Diane Adoma. We will meet at the Brooks Mill Subdivision Club House, 4009 Brooks Mill Drive. Participants will receive free t-shirts from Keep DeKalb Beautiful and refreshments courtesy of Walmart. Bring your friends and family for fun, food and community building!

These litter heroes from cleaned up Gresham Road yesterday. They moved into their new building on Brannen Road off I-20 last year. Now they’re doing a week of volunteer activities in the Gresham Park neighborhood to be good neighbors. Let’s say 🐴"Nay!"🐴 to litter in DeKalb County! We will assist the Little Creek Farm Conservancy with a clean up of Peachtree Creek's south fork at DeKalb County’s Little Creek Horse Farm on Saturday, May 4. The park's address is 2057 Lawrenceville Hwy, Atlanta, GA 30329, but we will meet on the Orion Drive side of the horse farm at noon. Volunteers can park on the pasture side of Orion Drive.

Gloves and cleaning materials will be provided. Volunteers should wear boots and clothing appropriate for walking in the creek.

Spring has sprung! We'll be enjoying the park this weekend with District 6 Commissioner Kathie Gannon and the Friends of Fork Creek Mountain Park. The event will be a Fork Creek Mountain Park, 2893 River Rd, Decatur, GA 30034 on Saturday, May 4, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

There will be a trail clean up at 10 a.m., followed by gardening classes and activities for all ages. Young DeKalb residents who stop by our tent may have the chance to name Keep DeKalb Beautiful's new education program. The winner of the naming contest will win a prize!

We're partnering with the commissioner; the friends of the park; DeKalb Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs; and UGA Extension to make this day of fun possible.

Thank you to Commissioner Larry Johnson and the volunteers who participated in Saturday morning community clean ups this month! The commissioner hosted his final Spring 2019 clean up at Candler Road on Saturday. We’ve gotten great feedback from the community about the positive change that these volunteers have made. On Saturday, the volunteers of the Greater Hidden Hills Community Development Corporation and a group of community service workers put down fresh mulch, tended to plants and picked up litter on the South Hairston Road Median.
