🌳✨To celebrate Optimist Park as our "Park of the Week," here's a little background and history on this amenity in De Pere ...

The De Pere City Council approved plans on October 18, 1988, to purchase a park property used by the Unified School District of De Pere, located on Cook Street off S. Broadway.

This informal "Cook Street Park" area was given the official name of Optimist Park in 1990 when the De Pere Optimist Club made a 10-year commitment for improvements to the park.

Over time, the park amenities have grown to include numerous baseball fields, a shelter, playground, basketball courts and more.

Optimist Park is located at 801 Cook St. and spans roughly 11.72 acres.

While the park became officially City-owned in 1988, the Unified School District of De Pere and City of De Pere had worked together for many years to develop its features, with Board of Park Commissioners discussions dating back to at least the 1970s weighing in on plans for the property.

A little rain earlier in the day and cooler temperatures couldn't put a damper on our "Beach/Island" theme last night at De Pere Beer Gardens. 🏖️ Thank you to everyone who came out to enjoy and all the sponsors and staff that made it possible. We're ready to do it all again next week ...

🛠️ Park project update: Starting next week (June 22-26, 2026), the playground equipment at Carney Park will be removed in preparation for new playground equipment to be installed. This area of the park will be closed for the foreseeable future. We will provide updates when this project is closer to completion. Thank you!

REMINDER: PACK is back today!

Our PACK (Police and Community Kids) Program lets local kids get outside, meet officers from the De Pere Police Department, and have summer fun with us in local parks.

Join us at Optimist Park today from 10:30 to 11:30 am.

🛻 Our Large Item/Rubbish Curbside Collection is complete for the season. As a reminder, the City’s rubbish drop-off site will move to the former Yard Waste Site (655 Rockland Rd.) beginning Saturday, June 27 due to construction at the Municipal Service Center. Hours, rules, residency requirements, and accepted items remain unchanged. Access will be through the west gate on Rockland Rd.
