Yesterday we honored one of my longtime members and friends, George E Santello, who passed away on February 5th at 93. George served in Germany during the Korean War and continued to serve the veteran community for decades after his military service. He was a member of our post for 41 years and handled the finances for the majority of that time. Rest in peace, George!

“Holding our balls”.

Commander wants a pic for FB. Would it be anything else with a bunch of combat vets. I mean, seriously.

A few of us were able to get away from the kids and crazy for a great time at Sproul Lanes last night! Having the opportunity to shoot the s&$t is the best therapy.

DELCO VFW Post 7390 has the Honor this year of spearheading the September 11th Memorial being held at the Delaware County Veterans Memorial in Newtown Square, PA starting at 8am. The event will be centered on the Emergency Response Teams and what occurred that day.

Our event is based on the playing of TAPS at the time of each event. We are also planning on having speakers from both the Fire and Police Communities as well as a few State Senators/Representatives.

Sharing the speech I gave on Memorial Day regarding the VFW. Commander, Delco VFW

*****************************************
Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen,

It's an honor to stand before you today to speak about a group of individuals who embody the true spirit of sacrifice, courage, and unity- our brothers and sisters of the veterans of foreign wars.

When we talk about the VFW, we're not just Speaking of an organization- we're Speaking of a legacy. A legacy forged in the dust and heat of distant battlefields, in the Thunder of combat, and in the quiet, unshakable resolve of men and women who answered their nation's call.

These veterans didn't just serve- they served overseas. Far from the comforts of home, often in war zones where uncertainty, danger, and hardship were constant companions. From the jungles of Vietnam to the mountains of Afghanistan, from the beaches of Normandy to the deserts of Iraq, they stood on the front lines of freedom.

But amidst the chaos of war, something profound was born: camaraderie.

In the foxholes, in the barracks, in the convoys rolling through the hostile territory- brotherhood and sisterhood took root. It's a bond that defies distance, time, and even words. It's in the glance between soldiers who've been through the worst and made it through together. It's in the quiet understanding of what it means to lose, to endure, and to keep going- not just for yourself, but for the person next to you. This is what makes the VFW so much more than a veteran’s organization. It is a family. A support network built on shared sacrifice. A lifeline for those who have seen and survived the unspeakable. A home for stories, for healing, and for honoring the fallen by lifting up the living.

Even after the battles end, their mission doesn't. The VFW continues to serve- not just each other, but communities across this nation. They fight for veterans rights, care for the wounded, support military families, and ensure no one is left behind.

So today, let us honor the fallen and the men and women of the VFW. Not just for what they did overseas, but for the strength they carry home. Let us thank them not only for their sacrifice in war zones, but for the unity they preserve in peace time. Because when they stood together in war, they showed us the meaning of courage. And when they stand together now, they show us the meaning of brotherhood and sisterhood.

Thank you- and may we always strive to be worthy of the freedom they fought to protect.
