Today, we remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. Their courage, selflessness, and dedication to protecting others will never be forgotten.

As we spend time with family and friends this Memorial Day, we pause to reflect on the true meaning of this day and pay tribute to those who gave everything for our freedom.

From all of us at the Volusia County Beach Safety Ocean Rescue Division, thank you to our fallen heroes and the families who carry their legacy forward. 🇺🇸

Day 7 of National Beach Safety Week!

Today’s Beach Safety Topic: Lightning!

Summer thunder storms can roll in quickly and ruin your beach day; but they’re not just an inconvenience, they are dangerous!

Before heading to the beach, be sure to check the weather and avoid any beach trips when storms are likely. When at the beach, keep an eye on the sky and watch for signs of storms building. The only thing predictable about Florida weather is that its unpredicatable, so always trust what you see and don’t rely soley on your weather apps!

Most importantly, when you hear thunder, its time to pack up and head inside or seek off-beach shelter! No beach day is worth your safety or the safety of friends and family.
