ππΎ Honoring Bishop Dr. George E. Butts β A Life of Faith, Leadership & Legacy
We proudly celebrate Bishop Dr. George E. Butts, a Daytona Beach native whose impact as a pastor, coach, mentor, and community leader has shaped generations! Raised in Palmetto Park (PPU) by his pioneering grandparents, Bishop Butts was instilled with a deep sense of faith, service, and excellence from a young age.
A Seabreeze High School graduate, Bishop Butts was an outstanding athlete and musician, excelling in football, track, and basketball while also performing at Carnegie Hall. His athletic talent took him to North Carolina A&T and Bethune-Cookman University, where he continued to develop as both an athlete and a servant of God.
Over his 35-year career with Volusia County Schools, Bishop Butts coached multiple sports, leaving a lasting legacy in high school basketball. As head coach of the Atlantic High Lady Sharks, he became Volusia Countyβs all-time winningest coach, earning 577 career wins and having the George E. Butts Gymnasium named in his honor. He continues to inspire young athletes today as head coach of the Flagler Palm Coast Lady Bulldogs.
Beyond sports, his heart is in ministry. As Founder & Presiding Bishop of Evangelistic Family Worship Center and New Heart Christian Center, he has dedicated over 45 years to preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ and is currently leading efforts to build a community education and life center in Daytona Beach.
A husband of 43 years, father, grandfather, and mentor, Bishop Butts remains a pillar of faith and leadership whose work continues to uplift and inspire.
