πŸ™ŒπŸΎ Honoring Bishop Dr. George E. Butts – A Life of Faith, Leadership & Legacy

We proudly celebrate Bishop Dr. George E. Butts, a Daytona Beach native whose impact as a pastor, coach, mentor, and community leader has shaped generations! Raised in Palmetto Park (PPU) by his pioneering grandparents, Bishop Butts was instilled with a deep sense of faith, service, and excellence from a young age.

A Seabreeze High School graduate, Bishop Butts was an outstanding athlete and musician, excelling in football, track, and basketball while also performing at Carnegie Hall. His athletic talent took him to North Carolina A&T and Bethune-Cookman University, where he continued to develop as both an athlete and a servant of God.

Over his 35-year career with Volusia County Schools, Bishop Butts coached multiple sports, leaving a lasting legacy in high school basketball. As head coach of the Atlantic High Lady Sharks, he became Volusia County’s all-time winningest coach, earning 577 career wins and having the George E. Butts Gymnasium named in his honor. He continues to inspire young athletes today as head coach of the Flagler Palm Coast Lady Bulldogs.

Beyond sports, his heart is in ministry. As Founder & Presiding Bishop of Evangelistic Family Worship Center and New Heart Christian Center, he has dedicated over 45 years to preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ and is currently leading efforts to build a community education and life center in Daytona Beach.

A husband of 43 years, father, grandfather, and mentor, Bishop Butts remains a pillar of faith and leadership whose work continues to uplift and inspire.

A Seabreeze High School star, Williams was one of the top basketball recruits of the early 1980s, earning All-State honors and comparisons to the game’s elite before committing to the University of Florida. Known as the β€œSlamming Stick”, his talent electrified the court!

After his basketball career, Williams dedicated over 30 years to municipal government, using his leadership to strengthen community programs and uplift young athletes. His passion for youth development drives his ongoing mission to mentor, build character, and create opportunities through sports.

πŸ€ Honoring Percy L. Williamson, Sr. – Leader, Athlete & Community Champion πŸ€

We proudly recognize Percy L. Williamson, Sr., a Daytona Beach native whose dedication to education, public service, and community development has made a lasting impact! Growing up in Palmetto Park (PPU), Williamson’s early years were filled with academic and athletic excellence. A Seabreeze High School graduate, he went on to play basketball at Morehouse College before transferring to Bethune-Cookman University, where he became a two-time All-SIAC Conference player and helped lead his team to a conference championship in 1977.

After earning his degree in Business Administration, Williamson pursued a successful career in banking and finance, later transitioning to public service. As Leisure Services Director for the City of Daytona Beach, he managed multi-million-dollar projects, developed youth and senior programs, and led citywide initiatives like the Mayor’s Backpack Giveaway and Youth Employment for Summer (YES) Program.

His passion for community upliftment extends beyond his professional workβ€”he has served on numerous boards, produced a PBS documentary on African American history in Daytona, and was instrumental in the MLK 50th Anniversary Celebration.
