Daytona Beach Shores Department of Public Safety

Daytona Beach Shores Department of Public Safety "Life is Better Here" The program has won wide support because it saves the City an estimated $100,000. a year while providing prompt emergency assistance.

In 1991, Daytona Beach Shores became the first community in Volusia County to adopt a Public Safety program by merging the police and fire departments. Residents receive a response to an emergency call in an average of little more than 2 minutes. To maintain that level of service, officers regularly undergo training to be certified for police, fire and emergency medical duties. The City currently has 35 sworn officers with 7 paramedics on staff.

This week, we were proud to partner with the Florida Department of Transportation during National Work Zone Awareness Week to help promote safety in and around active construction zones.

Our team joined fellow agencies in getting out into the community, sharing important safety tips, and reminding drivers just how critical it is to stay alert behind the wheel.

We’re always committed to educating our residents and visitors—and initiatives like this help us continue working toward safer roadways for everyone. Slow down, stay focused, and help us protect those working hard to improve our city! 🚧🚔
