A huge thank you to everyone that came to the Community Councils Christmas Party! We had 65 friends and neighbors share in all of the delicious dishes.

A huge thank you to Dr Williams and the Belmont High School brass band for playing Christmas Carols tonight. These high school students were awesome! They helped unload our cars, setting up tables, and putting decorations on the tables. They most likely helped in other ways, that I didn’t see!

Finally, this evening would not have happened without the help of Leah Konicki, Sherrie Crowell, Ashton Supp, Katie Coates, Judy Orick, and Jeanne Schoenharl.

Merry Christmas to everyone!

Police: Overall crime is significantly up, which the rise being attributed to gun crimes, and robberies. Car thefts, however, went down. He discussed newly formed strategic response units which research, and find hotspots of crime in the community, and focus resources to those specific areas.
He indicated in general sounds past 10:00 PM on weekdays and 11:00 P.M. on weekends neighbors shouldn’t be able to hear over 50 feet. If there are repeated violations, contact the mediation center for advice and to get more legal information on the City of Dayton sound ordinance. Other issues brought up were street signs and speed bumps. To get a speed bump there is a process through the engineering department where residents submit a petition.

John Parker gave an overview of waste collection and recycling in the City. Some issues brought up were routing, having drivers trained so they take the time to put back receptables om the correct place, and don’t damage property, and orange bags (Hefty Renew Program). If residents wanted to, they could put the orange bags into recycling, but they don’t provide the orange bags, and it may cost more. He did not go into much detail about this question. He said to contact him for any issues. He handed out some pamphlets covering recycling. In general, items that should be recycled that the accept in City Recycling receptables include paper/cardboard, metal cans, cartons, plastic bottles, jugs and tabs, and glass bottles and jars.

Scott was voted in as vice president (with a motion/and approval of motion) and Joan was approved as new treasurer (with a motion/and approval of motion)

Addendum: A big thank you to everyone who donated food for the food pantries in BEH.
