25 Years Later, We Remember

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, the first responders who ran toward danger, and the families and communities who have carried the impact of that day for 25 years.

Dayton Police Chief Eric Henderson reflects on his experience as a young officer on 9/11 and the profound ways that day changed law enforcement, public safety and our country. He also shares a message of gratitude to the men and women who serve the Dayton community every day.

The Dayton City Commission will hold a regularly scheduled meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at 8:30 a.m. The meeting will occur in the Commission Chambers (101 W. Third St., second floor).

A public hearing will occur before the regular meeting concludes. The public hearing subject is a zoning map amendment to an existing planned development in the Twin Towers Planning District.

A Commission work session will be held following the regular meeting in the Planning Resource Center (City Hall mezzanine). The topic is the Miami Valley Community Action Partnership.

The Labor Day holiday (Monday, Sept. 7) will affect services provided by the City of Dayton Division of Waste Collection.

Dayton: Garbage and recycling collection will occur on a one-day delay during the week of Sept. 7. There will be no bulk collection this week.

Moraine: Garbage and recycling collection scheduled for Friday, Sept. 11, will occur on Saturday, Sept. 12. (This week is not a bulk collection week in Moraine.)

Jefferson Township: Garbage collection will be on a one-day delay this week. Recycling and bulk collection scheduled for Friday, Sept. 11, will be occur on Saturday, Sept. 12.

Customers – Please have your containers at the collection point by 6 a.m. of collection day. Thank you!

The City of Dayton announces Graffiti Delete, an initiative with one message: see it, report it, delete it. Graffiti Delete makes it easy for residents and businesses to help keep Dayton beautiful by sending a request directly to a City team via the Dayton Delivers online portal.

Anyone can report graffiti directly at www.daytonohio.gov/graffiti or by calling 937-333-4800.
