The Rhea County Fire Department had the honor of attending the ground breaking ceremony for the new Veterans and First Responders Memorial Park in Dayton, this morning. It was a beautiful ceremony and we were truly honored to be a part of this amazing project.

Rhea County Emergency Management Agency and Rhea County Fire Department are proud to share our newest 2 trucks. One of which was donated and the other one cost a fifth of the normal price for the same type of truck. These have been converted into mobile command/drone unit and wildland fire unit that have recently been placed into service to better support our community.

These additions strengthen our ability to respond safely, efficiently, and effectively during emergencies of all kinds.

We want to extend our sincere appreciation to EMA Director and Fire Chief Brad Harrison and for his leadership and dedication throughout this process. Their commitment to improving public safety continues to move our county forward.

As always, our mission remains the same: to serve the residents of Rhea County with professionalism, preparedness, and pride.

Today, we remember the brave men and women who gave everything for this country. Memorial Day is more than cookouts, long weekends, and celebrations — it’s about honoring the heroes who never made it home and the families who carry that sacrifice every single day.

Because of them, we live in freedom. Because of them, we have the moments we often take for granted.

So today, pause for a moment. Remember their names. Honor their sacrifice. And never forget the price that was paid for our freedom.

“All gave some. Some gave all.” 🇺🇸

Please keep the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Doyle Fugate’s family and friends in your thoughts and prayers. Rest easy, brother in blue. 🖤💙🖤

In Honor of Deputy Doyle Fugate

Deputy Doyle Fugate’s patrol car has been placed in front of the Sheriff’s Office as a tribute to a man who meant so much to our department and community.

For anyone in the community who would like to stop by, pay their respects, or simply take a moment to honor Doyle’s memory, you are welcome to do so. Whether through a prayer, a memory, or just a quiet moment, we know it would mean so much to recognize the impact he had on so many lives.

Doyle was more than an deputy — he was a friend, a smiling face, and a true pillar of this community. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

816 Doyle Fugate — End of Watch, but never forgotten.
