Dayton’s Heirloom Markets Announce Final Market of the Season
DAYTON, Va. — Dayton’s Heirloom Markets will hold the final market of the season on Thursday, September 24, from 4–7 p.m., bringing local farmers, makers, food vendors, and community members together for an evening celebrating the Shenandoah Valley’s agricultural and cultural heritage.
The September market will begin one hour earlier than the previous markets, which ran from 5–8 p.m. Organizers moved the hours to 4–7 p.m. as daylight hours grow shorter, allowing visitors more time to enjoy the outdoor market and stroll between Dayton’s three historic locations while it is still light.
The inaugural Heirloom Market season has drawn strong interest from local producers and artisans, with approximately 60 vendors applying to participate across the four monthly markets. The response reflects the region’s abundance of farmers, food producers, craftspeople, and small businesses — and the community’s enthusiasm for connecting with them.
The Heirloom Markets are a collaboration between Rocktown History, Fort Harrison, and the Virginia Quilt Museum at Silver Lake Mill. The three organizations created the markets as a “heritage experience,” bringing together local agriculture, traditional crafts, food, history, and community in and around Dayton’s historic sites.
Visitors to the September market can expect locally grown produce and flowers, farm-fresh foods, baked goods, handmade items, and food trucks. Admission to the participating museum sites will be free during the market.

September Heirloom Market
Thursday, September 24 | 4–7 p.m.
Three Locations:
Fort Harrison
335 Main St., Dayton
Virginia Quilt Museum at Silver Lake Mill
2328 Silver Lake Rd., Dayton
Rocktown History
