🚨HELP US HELP YOU🚨
ALL of Greene County is under a Level 2 Snow Emergency. This means that "roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. Roads also may be very icy. ONLY those who feel it is necessary to drive should be out on the roads. Motorists should use EXTREME CAUTION". We please ask that during this historical winter storm Fern, please stay off the roadways unless its absolutely necessary to allow our amazing road crews time and space to clear the roads. We also kindly ask that if you have a fire hydrant near your house please remove all the snow around it, 3 feet in all directions, and if you can shovel a pathway in your driveway and/or sidewalks to assist our Emergency Medical Services crews to get the cot and other lifesaving equipment to you would be GREATLY appreciate! Thank you for your continued support and stay warm!

We realize that there will always be concerns, issues and information circulating within the township and regardless of the nature of each, none are related to the fire department. We kindly ask that you take emotion out of the issue(s) and simply look at the facts. The fire department should not be used as collateral damage. What cost is too much to keep your loved ones, family, and/or property safe during a fire or medical emergency? We want everyone to have the facts when they go to cast their vote on Tuesday 5/6. Please contact Fire Chief Buffenbarger if you have any questions concerning the levy (ISSUE 4). You can also visit www.citizensforsugarcreekfire.site for additional information. Thank you for your understanding and continued support!

This levy will provide essential funding for:

Maintaining and upgrading lifesaving equipment and vehicles

Ensuring adequate staffing for faster response times

Improving training and safety resources for our crews

Keeping stations operational and prepared 24/7

Without this levy, we risk slower response times, aging equipment, and reduced coverage—putting lives and property at risk.

The Statewide Burn Ban is now in effect for all Township residence. The outdoor open burn ban is statewide during the months of March, April, May, October, and November between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.

We kindly ask all Township residence that if you are planning to burn please call our dispatch center at 937-848-2727, BEFORE and AFTER your recreational fire so it can be noted and tracked. Please make sure you have a water source near by and that you never leave a fire unattended.

Just a friendly reminder that you are NOT allowed to burn yard waste, trash, or debris any time during the year. Only clean, dry wood. However, this ban includes burning anything during these months/times. During the spring, wildfire danger is high before plants have turned green, and in the fall, fire danger is high due to abundant dry leaves and dead grass. Warm, windy weather in both seasons also contribute to elevated fire risk. Always be sure to use a proper burn barrel when burning outdoors during legal hours.

If you have any questions, feel free to give us a call about burn regulations or you can call ODNR Forestry at 877-247-8733 with questions.

Over the next several shifts, crews will be training on our new Stryker Xpedition Powered Stair Chairs. This was made possible through an Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation (BWC) Safety Intervention Grant totaling over $52,000. These stair chairs will replace 15+ year old manual stair chairs and are designed for increased safety for both the firefighters and patient.

Some of the benefits include:

Reduced patient tip back while on the stairs, in combination with Stryker's patient containment system, to help improve patient psychological and physical safety.

Allows caregivers to safely and ergonomically move patients up and down stairs, utilizing a powered track to help decrease the risk of caregiver injury and fatigue.

Integrated head end and foot end lights allows emergency responders to easily see the environment around them and their patients.

By having our own in-house personnel being successful in grant writing, this allows us to take advantage of and provides financial investment when other sources of capital are unavailable to initiate or expand programs, products, or services due to budget restraints. A HUGE thank you to our Strkyer Sales Representative, Ohio BWC grant staff and the citizens of our community that continue to support us in our mission!

Be on the look out for these new and invaluable peices of equipment going inservice next week!
