At United Samaritans Foundation (Stanislaus County, California) I search for grant opportunities on a daily or weekly basis. I began applying for grants from private foundations that we'd never contacted before. They awarded us a substantial amount of money to partially cover the costs of a new mobile food service vehicle. Without our subscription to CDBG, I wouldn't have discovered and applied to these foundations.

I'm Karen Harvey and this is Betty Brainerd, the executive director of the Wade Center. We won a $10,000 grant for operating expenses from CDBG. It came at a really critical time for us to be able to keep the doors open during COVID, change in administration, and completely re-doing the curriculum to include art, music, and field trips! CDBG has helped Workshops for Warriors continue to grow each and every year by opening up so many doors and opportunities. We have received several grants because of CDBG as this is my primary search tool for finding funding. The best one so far is the one we received worth 400K. This is the largest grant we have ever received as we are a tiny nonprofit with no full-time staff. It really allowed us to grow and legitimized our presence in the community.

CDBG has been a huge help in finding funding for the Town of Churubusco and various non-profit organizations in which I am involved. I think I have been a member since 2018 and I have found dozens of grants that we’ve been eligible for to assist in funding several projects throughout our community.
