🛒 A building that used to move freight for the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad now moves 370,000 people through its doors every year.

A 1911 railroad warehouse was pulled back from the edge of demolition and turned into Dayton's most vibrant weekly gathering place.

The 2nd Street Market fills that block-long historic building with more than 50 local vendors: farmers, bakers, artisan cheesemakers, honey producers, flower growers, and a stretch of small restaurants serving everything from French crepes to Mexican street food. Walk in hungry and you'll have a hard time deciding where to start.

It's run by Five Rivers MetroParks, which is its own kind of Dayton thing.

The program begins at 5 p.m. with an introduction by filmmakers John Bognar and John Mays. The documentary created in 2007 chronicles the rollicking history of Dayton’s Historic Oregon District, from its beginnings as the city’s first platted neighborhood, providing housing for workers on the Miami-Erie canal, through the prosperous 1800’s, the 1913 flood, the industrial era, to the eventual blight of the 1950’s – 60’s.
OREGON STORIES focuses on the period of renewal in the 1970’s when urban pioneers saved one of Dayton’s most unique neighborhoods. Full of great tales of people who lived it, OREGON STORIES brings history to life with a rich cast of characters and raises important contemporary questions about the nature of community.
The movie will include a discussion with the filmmakers, some of the visionary residents featured in the film and audience members who want to share their own "Oregon Stories."

As the NATO Parliamentary Assembly comes to Dayton, a visit to the Holbrooke Plaza and Richard C. Holbrooke Memorial Bridge is a powerful way to reflect on the 30th anniversary of the Dayton Peace Accords.

📍 Located on the western edge of the Great Miami River, the plaza honors Ambassador Richard C. Holbrooke, whose tireless diplomacy helped end the Bosnian War in 1995.

Dear Neighbors, The Wayne Avenue Traffic Safety Coalition (WATSC) is happy to bring you an exciting update on our efforts to calm traffic on Wayne Avenue.

The Ohio Department of Transportation has completed the requested safety study on our stretch of road, and has proposed some pedestrian-friendly improvements via these three documents.

The City of Dayton and ODOT are expecting our feedback, so please take our survey (below). As you examine these documents, we would like to call your attention to the following design features:

A road diet will be performed on Wayne from Keowee to the US-35 overpass/Buckeye Street, taking it from 5 lanes to 3. We’re looking for opinions on what to do with the extra space. Some ideas are wider sidewalks, tree lining, on-street bike lanes, and/or on-street parking.
The entire intersection of Clover and Wayne will be raised and will incorporate bollards to create an additional barrier for people and property. This is a major win for an intersection that has caused problems for so many.
An additional raised crosswalk will be added at the southern end of Park Drive. For an idea as to how this would slow traffic, try driving down 4th Street through Sinclair’s campus. We believe that this is an excellent first reminder to vehicles to slow down as they come off of the downhill portion of Wayne to the south of us.
Overall, WATSC believes these designs will make our neighborhood safer.
